So, I heal and Alt Tank and when i check the M+ keys…
Oh boy …so many people wanting a tank.
I read on Reddit , I hear in game, and yeah i can see it…but can Blizzard?
From what i hear discuss in guild and ingame and on reddit, it’s just not worth tanking atm.
Why? Not only is the reward crap, it is hard. Like seriously hard. I know.
If i don’t use my cooldowns or make sure healer is ready, i go from 100% to almost under 20%.
And now your thinking, is a gear issue. Stats are wrong, No no…they just hit very hard.
Delves had this problem as well. And now it’s fixed, heck i enjoy tanking and healing Delves more then M+ to be honest.
Is way less stressful, and i can be sure I get a reward from it. So, why can’t we have this in key /M+ ?
Mean, imo they should take a hard look on Mythic and ask themself:
“How can me make this better? How can we fix this?”
For now, a Hotfix would be a simple 10% damage taken reduction and give healers 10% increased healing in PvE until they can do a better fix.
Like, what is killing most players, why are tanks dying so fast, how can we improve the rewards.
Raids are fine tank and healers from what i see are not having any issue, so it should just apply in M+ / keys.

They see it but what can they do? they can not force people to tank and even players keep asking for tanks to be nerfed for some reason and thats putting more off from playing it.

Tanks have literally ALWAYS been in demand since the days of old… it’s primarily a player driven issue. Devs can’t force players into the role if said players like to see big numbers from DPS’ing or shy away from taking the leading role.
How? Tanks make a lot of gold from satchels of cooperation, and hell of a lot more off being hired for their service for M+ [competency pays!].

Whenever it becomes fun to play a tank or a healer - blizz immediately intervene and make it awful.
There was a period I would feel like a tank in PVP - dps whined that they can’t kill a tank in 5 seconds, tanks got nerfed in PVP.
Blizz specifically introduced a 3x damage penalty for tanks in Delves, so that DPS wouldn’t feel that it is too hard for them to play.
Blizz introduced 30% damage penalty for tanks with dps trinkets for whatever unknown reason.
Most tanks loved the vengeance mechanic- blizz deleted it.
The only way Blizz can make the game challenging in M+ - is to introduce one-shot mechanics if someone forgets to interrupt/stun, make incoming damage spikey, which sucks when you are a tank.
Playing as a DPS is much less of a hassle, plus it is more fun, you see big numbers go brrr and so on.
Until Blizz stop making tanking suck - there will be a lack of tanks.

I would imagine they are, considering they’re the ones who caused it.

make tanks deal competitive dps in 5 man content. or hell even raid content who cares.
competing on the dps meter makes everything more fun.
just make it so you cant launch a m+ key with more than 1 tank spec active.

Define “competitive”, if you mean equal to dps then that just wouldn’t work.

and why not ? what would the issue be other than making tanking more fun and therefor more players playing it?

Because why bring DPS to anything when you can bring tanks that do DPS damage while also having a ton more defencive capability.
Yea, you’d sort the tank shortage problem but then you have a problem of litterally everybody being tanks.

Is your alt a paladin tank by any change? They are getting a needed buff on reset.
It’s called a trade off… what a nonsensical suggestion.
you cant bring more than one as stated in the rule.
but sure leave it as is. you are responsible for routes. leading the party. having no fun with pumping etc, then wonder why no one plays it xD

They tried that back in the day. Did not go well.
After my main, I have 2-3 alts that I am always tanking with.
Frankly dps is the least of my concern. What is more often the case is that I do not like to pug because of the randomness of getting a “good” player/experience in a group. Compared to that, I can choose to tank only when I am in a group with friends, where I know what to expect.
Frankly there is not much blizzard can do in order to “force” me to pug as tank.
If they stop with the toxicity then maybe i’ll start tanking.
until then, nah, i don’t wanna be yelled at like that when trying to enjoy a game.

I don’t want tanks doing competitive dps.
I want my sustained survivability back.
I’m gonna start stacking stamina again

There used to be a mechanic that solved that issue - it was called vengeance. Your damage would increase, but only while you are taking damage. In this case if you bring tanks instead of DPS only the one tanking would be doing big damage.

not only blizzards fault.
mostly yea, but everytime tanks do dmg you´ll see a lot more people playing tanks. But then the DPS start crying because they want their padding-dmg for themselves and canßt stand seeing the tank topping the meter. (and yea you can argue that is not waht a tank shoudl be designed for, but toppign the meter is fun for 99% of wow players, and you want tanks to feel fun).
So they wait.

I’m not saying it should be this way or not, but it would work, it worked in the past when tanks could compete on dps. Infact in MOP Tanks were the top dps on many raid bosses. You can absolutely make the game work with tanks being competitive on dps, whether that’s better is another thing.
I think a big part of the lack of tanks is fear, the difficulty, responsibility and pressure, backlash from players.

WAI, tbh. Make sure the healer is ready and use your cooldowns. As a healer, I also have to use my cooldowns to keep you alive. There’s tons of dmg in m+, I literally have to blow my big cd’s as soon as they are available, can’t afford to save them for bosses only.
This is true, but I strongly suspect (based on my own experience) that ppl simply don’t pay enough attention to talents. When I struggled in m+ suitable for my ilvl, it was definitely me. Switching talents around helped me a lot to feel just as comfy in m+ as in raids (as healer).
Every dps would be a tank, then - you’d have 4 tanks in your m+ group and no one would pick mages, hunters, rogues, etc. bc why take a squishy clothie if I can taken 4 DKs doing the same dmg…
