That’s a bad thing to go for eSports ?
There was a really big viewer count and competition going on with Overwatch. Some people told the game did less well due to the new released heroes and imbalance, but I didn’t follow the scene enough to really know.

I dont play Overwatch. Never got past the tutorial. One day maybe…

the thing about a game being big in eSports is that it;s future direction is dictated by that. eSports bring in more money that lock boxes so they cater to them not the larger, more casual playerbase.

If we have a look at WoW. Arena never really took off but arena has shaped the balance of WoW for quite some time. Some abilities were altered or removed because they were too powerful in PvP. I’m still pee’d off with the Cata druid nerf; we’ve still not got all that stuff back. (I’m taking about fear breaking berserk Blizzard. And bring back powershift while were here.)

The BElf racial Arcane Torrent was an AoE silence racial since I played the game but now it’s overpowered because it can be used in M+ - their latest eSport.

But if it was the case at the beginning, it should have been a good thing no ? I do not know if it was their aim with Overwatch before watching the success of the game in the first place or not though.

As for WoW, if they really balanced it toward eSport we could’ve at least hoped a bit more balance for Mythic+ no ? :stuck_out_tongue:

The main aim was probably to offset the huge cost of abandoning Project Titan. They used more of it than we were initially lead to believe.

Balancing like this means removing spells. If something is too good they remove it either by /delete or reworking it into a new ability.

It would also affect raids. 10-20 man classes act differently.

Nooooooooo D: No more pruning.

But ‘eSports’?

How about we do the opposites and give under performing classes more tools ?

That hurts… I was so hype for Anthem when it was first revealed… Look at it now :sob:

People are like that. They’re hyped for DA4. Before they were hyped for Anthem. Before they were hyped for ME:A. It’s like they don’t learn.

They went all-in on it and forced it too hard. Works when the game is fresh and rides on the hype after launch but it’s bound to wear off. According to a friend of mine some of the balance changes have also been for the worse and created a more boring meta to play and watch (never played or watched myself so i can only take his words for it).

WoW in all honesty suffers from a few glaring issues, to me at least. The biggest one is class design, especially from a PvP perspective, followed by flawed gearing system along with a world that tries to make you engage with it by necessity (AP grinds). Level’ing is another issue but that’s likely going to take an expansion that’s almost dedicated to that alone to fix.

There will never be a new MMO from Blizzard. The message came loud and clear in last Blizzcon. Its going to be bling-bling-rng-3-button-mobileturds until Activision-Blizzard will be gone after next big economical crisis.

They could be…I just don’t think Blizzard will be the ones to bring the New MMO experience that the gaming world needs.

Blizzard 2019 can’t even run a MMORPG with a loyal, addicted, fanbase that keeps playing and paying despite dirt-poor gameplay, server performance, balance. What makes you think it can launch a NEW ONE? lol

In that case, it would be Diablo. No doubt.
-But since quality have heavily declined through the years and turned wow game into an instant satisfaction anti-social money making machine, with few bright lights, I’m not sure it would be worth spending time on playing a new MMORPG.
-Unless they really out-do themselves, when it comes to core values!

“Soon” used to mean quality out of this world… But now you’ll “soon” need a new phone to play their games.

If so i hope it won’t be modern style mmo… Otherwise it will be in-game shop with elements of rpg
