Basically what the title says, I started playing with couple of my friends when Cata servers first launched but because of irl problems we all had to stop playing games. Now we finally have more than enough time to start playing Cata, but is it worth it after all this time? We saw that MoP is coming too, should we wait for that or start playing now?
Start now, its fun, even more with friends, this way you will also be ready for MOP
Probably best get your toons ready for MOP but I would play anyway personally. You could also grab heirlooms too so you can level faster in MOP. But thereâs no real reason not to play
Thank you for the replies very helpfull, we will be leveling as druid, hunter and shaman hopefully there are still people who are leveling so that we can find dungeons easy enough.

Cataclysm will be a ghost town soon enough. Before the last update, it got to a point to be the worst from all classics ever. It gainedâŚsome players with the new update , but it will soon drop to ever lower than before, especially with the release of new Classic Servers.
So no. Investing time in Cataclysm is bad at this point.
Go to the new Classics or something, until MoP pre-patch comes.
What is your favorite expansion? Because TBC is coming in a year and I think thatâs the best option right now. Start on the fresh Classic servers and if you donât care about vanilla just level to 60 and farm some gold, bags and mats for your TBC character.
Yes it is. Now with the dungeons giving an last tier hc items and justice points buy you last season valor epics its âeasyâ to gear up. It is a grind and yes you gotta suffer trough deadminesâŚbut you dont have to do anything hard or challenging to get basicaly bis gear from last season.
The elemental protocol is the worst thing ever. Just totally lazy development. Just slap a damage and health modifier on the mobs - lol -
The wotlk ones had atleast some affixes. I would´ve preferred those over the most boring cata heroics.
All in all, I would not recommend playing cata. Play hardcore or the fresh classic server. Much more fun

He could still raid too, firelands is fun, but classic fresh is honestly the way to go for now
You can great pretty quickly after lvl85 and start raiding but Firelands is a pretty bad raid imho.

Yes play blood DK imo. It will be easy and fun.
they basically forced this mode when they lowered valor for heroics by 50% after the first run, since week 1 i was done with the fissure stone fragments, i only need the weekly valor now and the way i see it i do double the work for the same reward (yes i know i could just run 1 random heroic per day and cap in 7 days but i want to be done with pve activities in one day)
and the queue for regular heroics is almost twice that of elemental protocol, good luck gearing up new players
that brings us back to my point. If they had added some sort of affixes (new mechanics) instead of lazily slapping a hp/dmg buff on the mobs, the dungeons would not be so reliant on good geared people and new people could run them as well without any problems. They would just need to avoid some mechanics.
Cata has clearly been abandoned! Its 0 devs, 0 gms and people falling off like flies! Without looking i can almost be assured that ironforge numbers are all time low since 2019.
80% of people i used to raid with during T11 this summer has left for classic or HC now and it doesnt seem they are coming back at all. TBC and Wrath over again seems to be the route now! I recommend you go on classic 2.0 since classic 1.0 that cata is on is obviously at its end.
