Is climbing arena in 2v2 harder than back then?

i am currently stuck at 1500 rating which never ever happened to me before lol.

we play unholy/resto shaman
we usually win like 3-4 games in a row and then face hpal/warrior for 3 games in a row and lose the rating we just got. it feels really pointless to even try agaisnt this comp.

in the original wrath i was at 2300+ rating and clicked on most of my abilites and yeah i know people were much worse player back then but still… :’)

Didn’t arena teams used to start at 1500cr or do i remember it wrong?

They did indeed, they changed this for classic to mimick some legion change or whatever.

Apparently the new mmr system is awesome or something.

i’d say its pretty harder these days with lots of information available in open sources & everyone playing on keybinds 10-50ms ping and 60+ fps

but also more enjoyable because you can get more challenging games at lower ratings now

you don’t need 2.2k+ mmr to sometimes face a gladiator now, 1800 is enough

1500 is wild right now
i either play against insanely good players or against players where I’m like “what are they doing!?!?! LOL”

Its not really compareable. Back then was s5, with a completely different patch and players had no knowledge of what was “bis” for certain classes.

You are essentially playing a different game than you did 14 years ago. Players know more, the information about anything is out there, different talents, differents nerfs/buffs… different bugs, as the original game had different issues than the classic client.

Its already hard to compare wotlk classic to a pserver version of the same game, even though they use the same patch.

lots of players that had 2.5k+ before(cata, mop, you name it) are playing at 1500 right now

pretty sure private servers run 3.3.5 not “patched” 3.4.0 blizzard does

I think pservers use the last patch of wotlk, just like they usually tend to do for any expansion. That said, i never played a wotlk pserver myself.

Either way, I am confident that they do not use the original patch of wotlk that actually was prevalent in s5.

I keep telling this my Friends aswell. It feels like there has been a Shift from MoP to Wod where it became much harder to gain Rating in arenas which coincidentally ? (I’ll let you decide that) was also when Twitch became big.
So the Access to all the information with Key binds macros addons weakauras and all that made the average 1500 Joe way harder to Beat then before.
Back in Mop I would EASILY Help Friends get their conquest Gear in 2s so essentually 1v2 as fire mage back then which was not really doable anymore come Wod and especially with Legion.

With that comp u should not win vs wari/hpal

And yeah the game is more minmaxed now + unbalanced due to 3.3.5 spells in 3.0 content

I’ve played “fun comp” with warlock / UH DK and it’s not very good comp but we’ve won every hpala/wars. Don’t know why

In TBC, I observed that the break even rating at which 1 win and 1 lose on average (or 50% win ratio if you want) was not enough to climb further was 1500. It’s not the good/bad opponents, simply the system was setup so that 50% win ratio on average is not enough to climb once you reach ± 1500 rating. Was really frustrating because ±50% win rate is not even bad, but the game started to punish you for it.

And based on what people post in this thread, it seems to be unchanged in WotlkC.

If 1500 rating should be the rating at which 50% winrate players should be stuck on, is up to Blizzard to decide. But that’s the reason of the wild games, a damn lot of players are stuck at 1500 as well so the pool of opponents is enormous.

Warmane players are dominating wotlk classic arena scene now.
