I’d like to make a warlock with demonology spec, but I read everywhere that it’s really weak. As I’m not interested in PvP but PVE alone, is it really that bad?
been main demo since cata , demo we got 100% one of worst ever since bfa rework , hell even legion demo despite it was weak too it was much better and smoother compare to what we have now , the issue is its one of the most challenging spec in the entire game with so much work you need to do from constantly counting how much shards you have and grind for them then use shard to summon demons now wait 15 sec untill demons do fully damage but end up not doing so cuz AI of demons so retarded and ofc demo lock is most hard casting spec in the entire game and take too long to ramp up , plus you end up choosing not summon demons talents and choose other talent instead to make your rotation less of a chore soulshard grind
PS: imo its one of fun spec in entire wow but at cost of performance , i play it for fun not to deal damage or anything seriously , since in pve by the time you start summon demons the trash mob will be already dead and in pvp enemy can cheese them so easily like cc your demon tyrant pet and waste your only damage option major cooldown

Demo got an acutal interrupt and with decent tuning will be a good specc for m+. As for raiding, the specc will naturally be worse than destro and affli on bosses with spread aoe or council based fights. Since there are many single target fights in the first raid, it might be a very good raid tier for demo. But currently it’s base damage even for single target isn’t good enough and has to be increased by a solid amount.

Even while leveling - when I join dungeons with Destro Warlock - we’re usually about even on trash/aoe, but dungeon bosses - oh my, Destro does maybe 30-40% more damage than me (Demo).
Demo has the problem of being an Affliction lock with 3D DoTs, which can be LoSed. So it is in a really bad state since Legion. Demo is the only spec which needs to hard cast his burst cd, that’s not the only weakness it has.
As Hellmaster said it, those who play the spec are just doing it because the like it not because it is good. If the lfg tool would show the spec i guess Demos wouldn’t get an invite.
I think of switching to Monk in SL
