Hello,
After reading the patch notes/news - https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/news/21952591/the-battle-for-azeroth-pre-patch-is-now-live which says
'Please note that AMD and Intel GPUs will default to DX12, while NVIDIA drivers will remain at DX11 with the option to update at a later time.'
Can anyone please confirm if the DirectX 12 option is working on Nvidia GPU's? I'm using a GTX 770 (yes its now old - upgrade soon) along with Windows 10 but there's no option for me to select DirectX 12. Only DirectX 11. I'm also running the latest Nvidia drivers - 398.36.
Thank you
As far as i know the GTX 770 doesnt support DX12. Thats probably the reason you don't see the dx12 option. i have a GTX1050ti which does support DX12 but as your link let us know its not optimized yet for Nvidea. It was default on DX11 (i do have the option to go to DX12) for me and i will stay on that version untill updates come out.
Thanks Mirtina! Just this second I've discovered that the GTX 770 isn't a DX12 supported card it seems.
From what I've been reading, DX12 is on the 970, 980 and higher up in the series of GPU cards.
Oh well! Maybe one day I will get an upgrade!
Thank you anyway. :)

It does support DirectX 12.
NVidia has sucky DX12 support AMD tends to have much better DX12 support so probably why it is enabled by default on AMD cards, with NVidia cards unless it is an NVidia optimised game and even then there DX12 support isn't that good on my 980ti every DX12 game I have tried I loose some FPS not much normally around 5 or so but I will admit some games like Warhammer total war feel really smooth even with the lost FPS but in WoW I loose around 15-20fps running in DX12 compared to running in DX11.
Hello,
so as far as i understood correctly, as an nvidia 1080ti owner i can choose DX12 but it's better to stick to DX11 (default) untill new drivers update ?
Thanks for your help!

Yep stick with DX11 there will probably be some improvement but I doubt you will ever get more FPS with DX12 than you will in DX11, NVidia has pretty bad DX12 support most games that have DX12 support run worse on NVidia hardware than they do in DX11...
Right now if you use gsync you better of using dx12 since in dx11 gsync is buggy you can force it on but this causes system freezes not adviced bassicly you turn on gsync for windowed and every boot you kill dwm.exe gsync will be buggy so not worth it.
Mostly if seen same performance as long areas aren't over populated like dalaran, i think dx12 has more potential in cpu limited games then gpu limited games, however if was my decision i would opted for vulkan instead of dx12 as it has better reputation.

Im currently using a gtx 1060 GPU and as far as i've seen im suppose to be able to use Directx12 but i don't get the option. I have the latest drivers for it.
