I only care about Blood Elves and Nightborne and they both fall on the Horde and have a much better story on the Horde.

Well, I like Highborne lore in general.
From Highborne, to Naga, to Nightborne, to High/Blood Elves.
Naga were and will always be my “baby race.” They were the race I actually fell in love with, long before blood elves.

What’s interesting on “Highborne” races. Afaik Nagas doesn’t have much story at all.
Warcraft 3, they literally saved Illidan, Kael and were the saviors of the Illidari.
And the interest on the Highborne is something that’s personal for me. I’m sorry (totally not sorry) for having a difference of opinion.

Everybody is talking about Sylvanas will be redeemed… but when our beloved Queen rise from the depths and heal Azeroth all will kneel before Zo… Azshara! 
We might be dreaming for a long time, but never mind.
We can still use this last chance to explore their ancient city of Zin-Azshari and explore Azshara’s Royal Palace, which will be far better than what we saw in Cataclysm.
Not out of hope just yet.
I wanted more Troll variety since I stared with jaw open at the Zandalari in MoP. Their beautiful dinosaurs and all.
Just yesterday, I managed to tick that wish off as achieved.

True, but then there’s the whole controversy on how they ride mounts like Sabers, Horses, Hawkstriders, Wolves etc.
And then that opens up another conversation, which faction would they join?
My head tells me the Horde, simply because of the Nightborne being extremely closely related and the Blood Elves because of Warcraft 3 lore, but the Trolls and Orcs have never exactly seen eye-to-eye with Naga.
I would like all Troll models to be changed into the rough shape of the Zandalari.
Them models for me makes playing normal trolls and their hunchback forms so urghhhhhhhwiuqekjhcqwpeheqw to play xd.

Somehow the Elves landed in the Horde, yet they spent most of their time fighting with the Amani… and originally Zul’jin was a Forest troll leader aka ancient enemy.
Not to mention the walking corpses… call them Scourge, call them Forsaken, it was the undead that steamrolled Quel’thalas…
An the High Elves as Alliance members fougth against both the Trolls and Orcs, the Old Horde… the same Horde the Goblins supported for sweet coins
But you are right, they would end in the Horde, they are after all Hightborne… like the Nightborne and the High Elves/Blood Elves, all the three are Quel’Dorei, children of noble birth, so it would be a family reunion
As for the mount, it just the metter of animation, really
Riding something like a noble woman, side-saddled is an option, or warp their tail around the mount, or coil themselves up
Or simply, as an unique racial… They can’t mount. Give them racial riding, like the Worgen to slither very fast (snakes are kinda fast anyway)
Or temporary illusion/shapeshift to kaldorei form, when mount up.
But that doesn’t really have much to do with the Horde. Yes, the Amani made temporary arrangements to join the Horde, but they shattered when the Orcs left and the Quel’dorei hunted the Amani like deers in headlights.
Well, the thing here is that Sylvanas still saw herself as a daughter of Quel’Thalas and she wanted to provide aid to the Elves.
Now the Elves were cautious at first and declined the offer, but after a second time, they accepted. Reluctance possibly played a part, but the Forsaken proved invaluable.
Quel’Thalas is not amused… I supose
…then almost ditched the Horde and rejoined the Alliance
Really, it was just game-balance reasons , not actuall lore behind it 
Being used as canon-fodder wouldn’t really sit well with any race.
