Like, I’ve checked out guides for evokers and boy… the rotation, abundance of abilities. jaysus… that sounds like a really complicated class xD
I didn’t really get a feel for how to play it properly in beta, I think, though that was probably mostly due to starting at max level with all the abilities at once and therefore not learning to use them progressively. They don’t seem very hard to wrap your head around though and as with many classes now you can simplify things with the talents.
I’m mostly interested in its PVP side tbh - sounds like it has a lot of utility. But at the same time I’m now afraid I won’t be able to grasp everything or even find keybinds for it all xD
If its anything like DH were in legion release, its probably some minmaxed simulated build that is technically optimal. I mean… in perfect situation with no interruptions (that basically doesnt not happen), you get few percent higher dps.
Yet, there are more reliable and easier ways to play that are those few percent lower, but you can actually play them that way in game.
Why I mentioned DH was due to the momentum builds that requires perfect positioning and bouncing around to do just slightly more dps, but it was next to impossible to do in reality. Yet, at start “everyone” used momentum build.
It sounds complicated, it looks complicated but in the end it ie easier than DH.
I have Beta, and have played Evoker quite a bit. Preservation (healer spec) is definitely the most complex healer. I don’t think i have got used to it yet, even after nearly 3 months. But Devastation, the dps spec, is a super basic turret spec masquerading as a complex spec. It might honestly be one of the easiest specs to play in the game. Up there with BM hunters.
I dont think its complicated. It has high skillceiking tough.
Keybinds wise, shaman and resto druid have more than evoker, so its midle of the pack.
Evoker is special cuz u have a talent to improve other talents, so seems like an important factor, the decision to wtch ability u empower in any given scenario.
That will be the diff between a good evoker and an average one.
The only fear i have is thst evoker will be way overtuned this exp, than guttted like mw the next ones
Doubt id say as easy as DH.
But yeah evoker isnt complex.
it sound its a class you should lvl up from lvl 1 and doin so learning the skills, gameplay and so on now you get him at lvl 58 and lots of talents none of the other classes have + a totaly new way of playing, i think lots of ppl will give it a go and dump it later out of frustation.
The curse of hero classes… they could have been like original DK or DH, where you unlock them as you progress the starting area/through talents and early trains.
For OP, you wanna check shadow priests. They are worse
They’re very strong in PvP from what I’ve seen. I wouldn’t worry about Evoker feeling complicated. Once you play it for a bit it’s extremely straight forward. I think you play prot in PvP, and they have quite a few CDs. Similar kinda concept imo.
They’re a ranged DH. Make of that as you wish. I played them fairly long in Beta and they arent complex at all.
They have a lot of utility through PvP talents but thats just DH aswell. Reverse Magic, ImprisonCyclone compared to Stopwatch or Alter Time for the enemy.
this is wow, i doubt they are that complicated.
IT does sound complicated.
Im just going to copy whatever Wowhead and Icyveins tell me to do!
No reason for it to be complicated though, regardless if it’s wow or any other game. I’m a veteran player since 2006, and despite my skill ceiling being very high, I’m avoiding complicated classes, complicated / riddled with mechanics boss fights, or farming Sha of Anger 5k+ times because I can’t be bothered to be annoyed anymore.
Game is supposed to be fun, a place where you relax, not be frustrated.
Rotation is kind of wonky for devastation.
But it’s just a 4 button rotation. And then you use your two major CD’s
