Wtf guys… Even if you are not afk, you can still die from fall damage… Is there something that we can do to prevent this?
Is there any conflict with addons, isp, settings? Or it’s 100% blizzard’s fault?
I mean, is it preventable somehow or not? Why some people experience this 2+ times while others never??
Is there a pattern or totally random??
According to me - just a player - totally random. Not dependent on any addon. I have none, experienced it.
I think fault lies with Blizzard - with the layering. Message: “Instance not found, transport (Teleport … whatever) aborted”, is made by crossing layers. And the Gryphon then despawns, you fall.
I did so into Elwynn from Redridge, short fall ending in water, many not so lucky.
Tl;dr: Stay when FPing, fingers hovering over WFT button.

I cannot press any useful button if i am low level and i don’t have engineering…
I know, Some classes/Races can … I did Stoneform. No idea if help or not But survived.
I just almost lost my level 59 to this bug. I was flying to wetlands after world buffs and disconnected. I logged back in and was falling. Thankfully I used petri but I was so close to the ground! And I still took damage after I clicked it off. I would have been dead for sure if I hadn’t had a petri (first petri ever, btw)

It is not exactly the same bug. I wish I got fully disconnected instead of the “transfer aborted” thing. If you are AFK while flying, you cannot do anything if you get dismounted because of the layering bug, but if you get fully disconnected you can do anything within your reach when you log back and while falling.
Just curious. Is this bug still happening these days? It happened to me 2 weeks ago
Damn you folks are proper hardcore
To still have the energy/drive/motivation to continue playing when these things happen is true devotion to the game

wait 10min after worldbuffs before using any flightmaster. when world buffs happen, some zones even lag out that are not even close to the worldbuff zone like thousand needles.
Thats whats causing lag atleast, maybe even the layer transport aborted one. Safer to just log out 10min then take flight.

Yeah, I can’t imagine myself watching my char during all flights in case this bug happens again. Even though I agreed to the terms, I can’t help feeling a bit scammed when I lost my char. However, I may reconsider going again if this bug is fixed (and no other similar bugs arise of course…)

Yeah the game was stuttering a lot, and it took me a few tries to click on the destination. Ultimately, I think I may take a little break from Stitches until the server is running with more stability. I did see a brief queue last night at about 11 CET

I’m pretty sure a Limited Invulnerability Potion makes you immune to fall damage for it’s duration, and they shouldn’t be too expensive to come by.

Requiers level 45 long way yet.
Maybe also Stoneshield Potions would work. Armor increased by 1000 (or 2000) sounds like lots.
I don’t think armor reduces fall damage. There are not many options to save yourself from falling from a high distance.
If I’m not mistaken, palas can bubble at lvl 6, mages can slow fall at lvl 12 and priests can levitate at lvl 34. A warrior could also charge to a mob if they fall on top of one. Other classes don’t have anything to deal with falling.
The only thing I can think of that would work for all classes is light of elune, but that is only available for alliance at around lvl 25.
Other stuff I can think of are parachute cloaks (engi 225 skill), noggenfogger elixir (obtainable at lvl 46ish, 1/3 chance of getting slow fall) and limited invulnerability potion (lvl 45).
Disengage as Hunter - but it requires superb timing and mob - resets falling distance
Disengage in classic vanilla is not a small jump. You lose aggro (similar to rogues feint).
the lowest level low ‘tech’ item you can use is raw deviate, the sleep will cancel falling but it’s a crap-shoot if you get that buff or not
Another reason to be one.
And what if the fall happen before level 40+ which you can have the useful items? You just waste 70h of gameplay for nothing?
Yes ans yes.
But you can still fall into an ocean and fatigue to. Death
