Iâm actually starting to believe that the vast majority of pug hosters on the megarealms have some kind of real life economic interest in making you buy gold to be able to play the game (well outside of guild raiding). Without even going down the GDKP rabbithole, lately Iâve seen people gatekeeping even in normal ToGC SR runs. My healer alt got declined to a 24/25 group in need of a healer because I wasnât going to buy the trophies (which in all fairness, is stupid a week or two before new patch). Itâs obvious they didnât want a healer, they wanted a buyer. But they didnât want to advertise that.
Pretty much, yes. It seems to me that the people who play this game as a hobby and not for a living are a dying breed. And the ones who play as a hobby are being exploited by the people making a living through WoW.
Itâs kinda amazing how Blizzard are letting these people exploit their product, while at the same time making it worse. What these guys are doing is probably not even legal by law (and not just Blizzard ToS). I guess it can be counted as some form of tax evasion?
I actually love WotLK, especially the end of WotLK, which is one of the best times in WoW history for me. But I really detest the state of the game currently. People usually meme on private servers and their communities, but nothing has ever been as toxic as the current WotLK classic, to be completely honest. Itâs unparalleled to everything else Iâve experienced playing this game.
Edit: On topic. I would not be surprised at all if these people reported you for trying to make gold in a way that is not buying it from third party sources. Itâs the only thing that seemingly matters currently, making sure you get the gold and nobody else. Probably because they have a real life economic interest in people buying their gold. And the circle is complete.
Itâs not âtheyâ who hid it, itâs ppl who reported your post in which you mention a gold selling site which can be seen as advertising it and you expose with a screenshot a lot of nicknames you should have blurred out (naming&shaming policy).
And i agree, GDKP can be questionable in many ways but also very hard to prove RL money involved practices.
If you want Blizzard to play by the book then you should also play by the book.
I know of ppl being goldcapped on all their chars on 2 accounts simply by doing dailies every day on those chars, maybe you can find some questing partners for doing dailies so you donât have to put up with grieve.
That screenshot, just a horrible realm, i would move off of it without any hesitation.
The daily cap is 25 quests, average daily quest reward in TBC was 10g, 20g in Wrath. TBC lasted for 478 days, so thatâs 25 x 10 x 478 = 119500g per character. Wrath lasted 377 days so far, which makes 188500g so that checks out. If we assume that by âall characters on 2 accountsâ you actually mean the per-realm cap of 10 (which has been removed by now), rather than the per-account cap of 50, that would mean each character would need to do between 17 and 18 quests per day to reach cap, which should take at least 42 minutes, assuming that you are a hyperefficient quester who could complete 25 dailies in an hour. For 10 characters, thatâs 7 hours of playing per day, every day. 14 hours of playing per day for 20 characters (2 accounts), unless you mean multiboxing which is not allowed. And of course, this is the minimum allowed assuming you are extremely efficient and play at least this much every single day, without break, and not do anything else with that time.
I suppose it is possible, but I doubt youâd find many such players.
He did it on 2 accounts at the same time without the multi-boxing software all on 1 realm, he has one of each class on each account. He has 3 monitors so plenty of space,he did the same in TBC with those chars.
Heâs one of the best players i know, very competitive too, he was ill during a large part of TBC, a small part during WotLK. During TBC he even raided on most of those chars, i could always group with him on no matter which char. Nowadays though heâs only raidlogging and working again mostly playing Escape from Tarkov besides wow.
Thereâs a lot of golds lying around in Northrend.
Maybe a bit of both. Some reported you for advertising and some from the guy and his guildies that bought the boost from you.
I personally donât report people like you but just block them.
Exactly iâm gold capped multiple times as well and I never bought gold.
I have good logs as well. Now iâm gonna spend all that gold for ICC items, itâs so much better than guilds using corrupted loot council that only distribute the best loot to their inner circle.
Few of my friends returned to wotlk recently, gave them 100k so they can join the GDKP runs as well.
What a very negative way of approaching pugs damn. My server has a discord for pugs they know their baddies.
Yes ofc thereâs always competition on drops geez even within guildruns without pugs.
Nah, i donât spend a lot of attention to pugs but i know those who were getting showered with gear just because no one else needed them, doesnât mean however thatâs always the case. Last run with my guild as iâm part of a raid team, i didnât get a thing either because the gear i needed didnât drop, when is it not like that?
If you feel that way about wow then you should just quit as thereâs no way of arguing with such a negative mentality.
@Daigar: Small correction here. Multiboxing is not forbidden as such, you are just not allowed to automate it. Manual multiboxing as described by Shioban is fine.
Oh, that must be why I have DV on 2 alts and Reign on 1 alt.
Happened once or twice to me personally. And just like scammers and the likes, these people end up on the server Discord anyway.
All good, except this is NO reason to get silenced.
As you said you brought politics into WoW and kept shouting this into all general and global channels and players reported you for it. Blizzard simply enforced their conduct which you agreed to have read and accepted.
That has nothing to do with the OPâs post.
OK, without multiboxing software heâd need to at least interact with objects, use quest items and mount manually on each character, which adds a bit of time. Letâs lowball and say he can get it done on 2x10 characters in 8 hours per day, then. You say heâs only raidlogging now, how long ago did he stop doing dailies? I can adjust the calculation.
He started raidlogging about a month ago so since that point he didnât do dailies either. Heâs btw also been AH-hogging while raiding. He didnât have as many chars during tbc but with all he had he did all the dailies that were available and ofc heâs been playing since classic so you can calculate on. Iâve seen him streaming on discord, heâs fast too.
Ps: Edit: hey ur lock is back!
Yeah, heâs back. I recommend not making characters with the same name on multiple game versions, haha.
Then you must be a very lucky person as itâs highly unlikely to get DV twice. First you have to be lucky for it to drop and then you have to compete with 5-10 others.
In GDKP runs I just spend 100k and I will have it guaranteed.
I love GDKP performance based runs. Those that put the most effort in it will be rewarded best.
This is the whole reason we need an authenticator to put notes into the LFG tool, to prevent bots from selling their services.
Itâs obviously a bandaid fix rather than yeeting bots, but you kinda did the bot thing and youâre getting punished for it.
And thatâs really all there is to it.
It wasnât cause of the /dnd thing.
I mean sure, that works IF you have that amount of gold just laying around. The vast majority of people who donât buy gold or leech of other players bought gold donât have that though.
I know I will and have more success in SR raids, because I donât even have half of the barrier to GDKP-entry. The one time I did try GDKP I ended up net negative since people got mad at me for not buying every single upgrade for 10k+ gold.
Of course you do. I bet Bugatti-owners love their fancy cars aswell, that doesnât mean owning a Bugatti is approachable and realistic to everyone.
You left out the part where you did technically advertise in whispersâŠ
