I made an alt in legion and pugged as a holy priest and kind of enjoyed it. I’m thinking of making an alt healer but can’t decide on the class or spec? I read that disc is hard to master and unforgiving, punishes mistakes and you need a good group. If something goes wrong you’re screwed or so I read. I think I don’t have the skill to play disc but what about holy? Can you do lower keys with it? Is it fun? Should I try it? I main a resto shaman and I’m having a blast but I have extra time so wanted to make an alt to do some dungeons. Any holy priests doing M+ high keys? Can you do it? Is it fun and is it worth trying? Thanks!
You can learn. Some people may be naturally quicker to adapt to certain things but natural talent isn’t gonna trump practice, and i do recommend it. Discipline is very unique and very fun and it’s also rewarding to master something.
There is no spec or class in the game that can’t do lower keys. You can probably even do +15 keys with any spec in the game if you’re good enough. Class doesn’t really matter that much until you start going above +15 keys. While some classes definitely have advantages over others, at +15 or lower you’ll be fine as long as you know the encounters and affixes.
Subjective, but i like it even though it’s quite a simple spec. It’s your bog-standard, straight to the point, vanilla flavored healer. It’s the healer i’d recommend for anyone just starting out. But it does have some gorgeous spell effects with nice sound effects and a strong class fantasy.
Absolutely. Play the class, not the spec. I make sure to learn every spec on every class i play.
Disc in m+ is a lot easier than in raids, disc mostly has its reputation from there.
But the good group part is more a m+ thing. Disc did get some tools to help with SL.
you could still try out both and see for yourself. the shields and damage reduction can really make a difference.
Holy is fine for keys for sure. Its a decent baby sitter spec ;D
You have only asking about lower keys anyway? You can use them for practice.
Both are fun for sure.
Holy in higher m+ (12 and up), while not bad, is very stressful. You will have to work twice as hard as the FoTM healers like druids and shamans and you should expect to get declined twice as often as well, as people pushing higher keys tend to not pick priests due to bad rep.
We can heal high keys. It’s hard, yes, but the hardest part is actually getting into a group.
im currently around 215 ilvl in holy gear and healing +15’s is pretty easy actually. Holy is a fine spec atm, dare I say good even.
