So I am mainly ally player, I did all my major pve achievements on Ally side (few CE’s, AOTC’s, KSM’s, etc.). Never touched horde pve.
I am also a bit of alt maniac, and if there is a chance for a new alt, I will surely take it.
Recently I started bear alt on horde side, and I think it was a first time I had a group wiping on +7 boss (Hakkar tyranical). Another surprising low key wipe was on NW+6 3rd boss. I was very surprised, because on ally side I never had even a close call of wiping on such low keys.
To be completely fair, players I invited wasn’t the best ones but looked decent enough, but it was still a new experience for me to wipe on +7 boss
So just wondering, what is your experience pugs vise on alt-maniac level keys on ally vs horde sides
Because at the moment there is a strong bias that horde has all of the best pve players (I agree about that on high end), but on more casual side? I have my little doubts.
Not really a difference between Alli and Horde for me. Idiots and good players exist on both sides. The only difference Ive noticed was that on Horde side it was more difficult to get into low keys if you dont play fotm classes since they have way more players to choose from and dont have to take whoever applies. But that was also some weeks or months ago, havent really played retail in the past weeks.
I wiped on mistcaller in a +2 on alliance on my priest. Tank was low geared and I let him fall a bit lower hp before I was going to heal because I was dpsing and then he doesn’t interrupt and dies and then we wiped.
Bigger player pool doesn’t mean a higher % of quality players.
Pugs are usually pretty dire in sub-15s. The best thing a casual player can do is join a social community+guild that is active enough that they can do all their content with them and never pug again.
The Horde is the plain superior faction just because you literally have more than 3 out 4 Pve players being there. That’s it. Moving away from the Alliance will prevent you from playing a dead game in the long run.
PVP I find alliance win 90% of the time pre lvl 60 at lvl 60 horde win most of the time xD
As for raiding it’s a different story … but only if you want to mythic progress. It’s not impossible on Alliance but it’s far easier on horde to find those like minded individuals.
Lastly boosting , it’s cheaper to buy boost on horde than it is on Alliance. That’s just a fact more booster play horde because more people play horde.
i find the horde just as incapable as the alliance, though now you mention it i do tend to get more wipes on horde side.
Id put it down to overly-cautious alliance players versus over-confident horde players. The horde definitely pull more groups simultaneously than alliance do in mythic groups.
I will have to admit that this is some time ago, but when I was running keys on both Horde and Alliance toons, I found Horde PUGs in low levelskeys on average to be worse than Alliance PUGs. In 4 out of 5 groups tanks didn’t use defensives, DPS stood in fire, no one played mechanics or interrupted. Then you get that one group where everyone is playing so far beyond what’s required and you can DPS all the way through as a healer.
From my - anecdotal and limited - experience, PUGging on Horde side is rather toxic with quite a bit of “blamestorming” when things go South. People generally seem to be more aggressive and on edge than on Alliance side.
Alliance PUGs felt more casual in a way that they will try to play around mechanics, but will not always succeed. Players seem to congregate around an average-ish skill level with little deviation down or up, i.e. the gap between bad and great groups is not as extreme as on Horde side. Truly competent/skilled groups are few and far between however, at least on the PUG market.
People seem to be more laid back, and will often stick with the group even if the key gets depleted. I have noticed people in general being less toxic or aggressive
But take this with a grain of salt, as this is purely from my own personal experience PUGging on both sides. I might just have been extremely unlucky on my Horde toons and super lucky on the Alliance ones.
Don’t care about keys, but for LFR/D there’s a huge difference between horde and alliance: 1h+ queue for sylvanas on a wednesday evening, while horde has 15 min or less… goes for most dungeons, also LFD during leveling… so even for the most casual activity one can notice huge differences.
I was alliance for many years as my wife wanted to play certain races so I went along with that.
When she stopped playing I tried Horde and here is why I prefer it
most players are polite and helpful
there is a good sense of humour amongst the horde
it simply feels like a more confident and happy community
Alliance on the other hand gets quite toxic towards new players and all sorts of little mistakes people make from time to time - instead of helpful advice and another try it is
a pile of insults and a vote to kick
