Is ist worth doing the MAW introduction for gold and XP?

Hello Everyone.

I need gold to invest in 229 gear on the AH so my characters can be fully geared once they hit level 60 in a couple of months.
I started SL this week with 25 level 50 characters and I want to play all at the same time so I can maximize the use of rested XP in each one of them.
My BE Warrior level 50, was the 1st to complete her MAW quest introduction and got to level 51.

I chose to skip the MAW intro on my 2nd BE Warrior but I missed on the XP and the gold.

I did a experience with my Tauren DK level 50 by removing all his gold and started the MAW intro with 0.
I stopped at the right moment they are opening the portals to Ogrimmar and Stormwind.
Total acquired: 554g 38s 81c
Leveled to 51 with rested XP (haven’t leveled for months so the rested XP was maximized).

What’s your opinion ?

Thanks for your attention.
Cheers.

Great to see you back
You can buy 229 gear from the vendor in ZM once you reach there at max level for AP or you can deck yourself out in 233 gear from AH

Helpful as always Daestra.

Thank you.

Answer is : No :stuck_out_tongue:
Maw scenario is slow and tedious. People were ‘loosing their minds’ before skip was made at some point in SL.

People are loosing their heads about every element of RPG in this game so IT shoudlnt matter.

They only dont loose heads about m+ and raiding

But yeah maw introductions is waste of time

That depends on how you are leveling to 60. If you rely on questing, all experience is good experience. However, you also do dungeons, you won’t be that XP-restrained and can skip the maw intro.

Welcome back! (or commiserations :stuck_out_tongue: )

Thw Maw is the Maw. I hate it, but it gives good XP. That’s your tradeoff.

But if you’re looking for a little gold for 229s, you have two solid and easy routes:

1. Heart of Fear LFR farm

Talk to the Raid Finder Storyteller in the Lorewalkers’ place above Mogushan Palace in Vale in Pandaria. Choose The Dread Approach (first wing of HoF).

Enter and kill all trash and the first two bosses. Right-click your portrait, choose Leave Instance, and keep re-entering until you have done your 10 per hour. Takes mayve 20-30 minutes for 10 runs once you have developed a rhythm. You will get vendor trash and auctionable Motes of Harmony.

From 10 runs of the instance, clearing the first boss and all trash before the second, I got

1,876 gold after vendoring all Greens (you won’t sell them at Auction)
119 Motes, worth 10.90 [*] each at the AH today, so 1,297 gold there.
13 Lockboxes, worth nothing if you vendor them, but maybe 40 gold each if you have a Rogue that can open them.
2 pets, that might theoretically sell for a couple of thousand gold, but will probably be hard to shift.

Brann Bronzebeard, in that room, will act as a vendor for the Greens you want to vendor. Motes of Harmony sell fast on the cross-realm AH.

So for the half-hour, a fairly safe 4,000 gold. Probably 4,500+.

Wait until your ten instance per hour limit expires, and repeat as much as needed.

[*] P.S. Current price of Motes is 17.42, so much better than a couple weeks ago.

P.S. I think this is probably do-able at 50+, without waiting for 60. I think.

2. Mission Tables.

This works for alts, AFTER you have got one character to Renown 80. Renown 80 on one character is necessary to switch Covenants and buy the Broker Marks of Distinction.

If you’re not going to level one much before the others, it may be less feasible.

Only Night Fae is really worth doing.

There’s this one weird trick …

As soon as you get to Oribos and choose Threads of Fate, choose Night Fae and immediately go downstairs to the little guy beside the Flight Master and buy https://www.wowhead.com/item=188167/broker-mark-of-distinction#comments for 500g to boost you to Renown 60. That will get you a Wisps of Memory. Then your levelling will get you the rest of the way to 80.

When you hit 60, get your alt to join each of the Covenants in turn, and on each one, buy and use another Broker Mark of Distinction. Each time you use one, you will get another Wisps of Memory.

So now you should have 6 Wisps of Memory, because you also got two at Renown 67 and 76 while levelling. (If you didn’t hit 76 while levelling, do a bit more to get there, but Bonus Areas at least should get you there.)

Finally, switch back to Night Fae.

You’ve invested 2000 gold in those four Renown tokens, but now we’re ready to collect the payoff!

When you go to Night Fae, you will first get one Soulbind, Niya. BEFORE you get any other Soulbind, activate the Mission Table (needs some foofing around with intro quets, and some Anima) and use all 6 Wisps to boost her to level 60. This will also boost your troops to level 60, and their levels won’t drop when you add more followers. Night Fae Troops are formidable. Four Trappers, or three Trappers and a Grovetender, will take care of any mission, meaning you can just plug iny old follower at any level at all to scoop all the Gold missions you want.

I recommend getting your table to Level 9, for the range of missions. But from there you are guaranteed an effortless average 1K per day per alt, somewhat more if you collect and send 2 or 3 times a day.

And ofc

3. Callings

1800 gold average per day. What more can I say about that? :stuck_out_tongue:

As helpful as always.
I will be analyzing all of this well made post.
Thanks for the work you put in Gráinne.

Edit: after much thought I decided to do the MAW introduction.

Exactly. I’m only doing solo quests atm.

Cheers.

If you take your time and let your alts get rested XP, and you plan on redoing the storyline:

Start with the Maw introduction. Then in Bastion do all available side quests among with the campaign. As long as you only quests with rested experience, you should be fine with only Campaign through Maldraxxus.

Ardenweald have a roadblock, so if you reach Hibernal Hollow without being close to level 58 you might have to consider side objectives. There are convenient local side quests available.

From this point if you manage to keep only questing with rested experience, you will be fine only doing the Revendreth Campaign and should make it to level 60 before you return to Sinfall from Torghast with Prince Renathal & co, or at the very last ding 60 by turning in the quest ‘Torghast, Tower of the Damned’. Otherwise you get the Revendreth roadblock, and this time there are no nearby quests. :stuck_out_tongue:

IF you aren’t in any great rush …

why not do it at least once… you might enjoy it?

Very helpful.
I will do that.
Thank you Skadefryden.

I really enjoyed doing the MAW introduction the1st time with my BE warrior and the 2nd time with my Tauren DK.
I love to take printscreens when my characters are with Thrall, Jaina, Anduin and Darion Mograine. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t wasting my time fooling around.

Cheers.

Would focus on one character, getting it through the story as fast as possible so you can use the skips on your alts. Doing the story on all characters equally is going to kill you.

I am going to say: Don’t bother gearing anyone but your main.
Pre-patch is supposedly out in 6-8 weeks as it is on the PTR. Pre-patch will assuredly have a gear catch up mechanic as we did for Legion, BfA and SL. At this point it’s a waste of time and money :woman_shrugging:t2:

I understand.

Thank you for the replies.

For barerly a level and 550g?
No way.
The maw intro sucks big time and you’ll catch up or even surpass the exp and gold doing anything else.

Avoid it like the plague. It gives little experience, is extremely boring and makes almost no sense. Also the Maw is in my opinion one of the most annoying zones in the game.
