Is it a good time to return to SOD?

Evening. I played season 1 but had to stop because of my exams. I want to return but fear I cannot get the reputation factions that people farmed in season 2.

I tried to play another game, but modders published my IP so I am running back to where I belong.

What reputations and runes, techniques do I need to focus on as a horde bear?

Is it a good time to come back?

season of retail has its own forum

My bad.

You make it very difficult.

It is easier than ever before for returners.

+75% exp buff
+300% quest gold buff combined with endless repeatable quests.
An almost free to get 6piece preraid BiS equipment set.
But if you plan to go raiding then you need a guild now because public raids are harder to find now because of the 20man size and mechanics in the raid are also like 100% more than in phase 1 BFD Raid.

And a good tip if you like to play in peace then choose a PvE realm.

Hi Xicht, thanks for the explanation.

OK, gold and experience surely will help.

Last month I logged and I was still with my guild. I wish I could choose PVE, I am stuck in a PVP one.

I survived modders in GTA, I think I can deal with Gankers and the classic Raid vs Player.

I hope I do not need much of the PVP factions. I can get WSG exalted, but for the others, I have not played their BGs.

I recently leveled from 20 myself. (: There’s an experience buff that starts at 100%(can be disabledat an inn) until 40, then goes down to 75% until cap. (Why 75 specifically? A popular way to level was nerfed and 25% increase was to give everyone a comparable leveling speed)You also get a 300% increase in gokd earned from quests. Yes, it’s massive. Also keep in mind that riding is learned at 40 and requires 50 gold or so. Cheaper with your race’s reputation.

There’s a new type of content available since the third phase that you can use to level as early as 23 which encourages grouping and could probably be fun for you. It has a reputation you can get by doing its repeatable quests, with friendly and honored giving you a great 6p set for each class/spec and some more awesome items later, alongside one rune. It’s also an amazing source of gold. Won’t say more just in case you wouldn’t want to be spoiled on the content itself.

There’s a dungeon from phase two that awards skillbooks that teach you new skills. They don’t take a rune slot. Likely a good idea to do a few dungeons leveling.

Near level cap(which is 50) you’ll have a questline starting at the zone north of ashenvale(excuse me, forgot the name as I’ve never really been there before) that you’ll want to complete.

Speaking of ashenvale, i assume they tried to keep the event relevant.

Also phase 2 added an event at stranglethorn. I can only recommend going for it once you’ve reached level cap though.(This event and pvp ranks can likely get you decent gear as well!)

If you have a profession that can craft gear, you can craft amazing purple items after a secret questline in each phase. Might be worth keeping up with your profession for that reason.

The runes after phase 1 are harder to obtain as they can require more people, defeating strong elites, etc (: i haven’t played a bear but my priest runes sent me all around the world and I’m still barely halfway there finding them all.

There’s also a secret item that can allow you to put a rest area anywhere. If you see people sleeping at random spots and wonder why, that’s it. It should be doable by like lvl 30 if not earlier.

That’s all that came to mind for now at least!

I would say:

Yes to level and get ready for the last phase with actual endgame content.

No for doing p3 content as it is really poor / unbalanced. It went from really good in p1, to mediocre in p2 to bad in p3. Mostly because both p2 and p3 were rushed and devs are working on another game. They lack resources.

My hope is that they will actually work on balance for the last phase.

It is a fun game and all but Blizzard is making it very difficult. If you have a new account or a returning play, get rid of not being able to trade, send mail, or use AH for 30 days lol, yep 30 days after that you can, so you have to pay for 30 days and just don’t play the game as you won’t be able to buy any items, sell mats or even buy mats to level up your professions and the list goes on!

I would think carefully before doing so. Most of us returning players just quit as Blizzard’s lack of communication is unreal and if you try to contact them, they will have an auto-reply bot that simply sends you a link and refuses to even assist you or help you out in any way.

That restriction is another way of Activision saying “hey guys, we’re trying to get that RMT and botting to go away”.

While in reality it’s just more sand in the eyes of the playerbase.

I read you more than once. The new content sounds promising.

I got most of the runes of phase 1. So runes on phases 2 and 3, I am guessing I can do solo.

Most for sure!

I would recommend leveling now yes, and gearing in BFD / Gnomeregan XP runs to get some pretty decent gear ready for 60. I wouldn’t worry too much about Sunken temple, though it is a great instance it may take sometime to get ready to raid. Though if you are willing to put the effort in then proceed to raid at 50 aswell.

I guess I will focus on getting ready for raiding in the next phase. Thanks for the reply.

I don’t know. SoD disappointed me a bit so far. It seems very rushed and unfinished. Extremely unbalanced and even bugged like a fun private server sometimes. Maybe phases 4-5-6 will be better because level 60 should be easier to balance, but who knows. Maybe if you haven’t started yet, a better idea is to wait for Cata Classic and try it. It can probably be the last and only opportunity to play good WoW. I got into SoD hard, but I’ll give Cata a chance and I’ll choose what to do. For sure, I will play only one of them or none

Was since phase 1, nothing new

but what is a problem. they have logs. they see that once melee hunter have two times better dps than average second class, once enh shaman 1 spell does two times better dps than average second class etc. What is a problem to fix math. Jesus…
