Instead of pants or boots like everyone does?
Because no way in heck I can afford LW base, and by the time I farm mats for my own there will be new expansion probably.

You will have a bit less stats since those items have a smaller stat budget and/or no main stat, and the legendary will probably be your highest ilvl piece.
Whether or not it makes a difference to you… Depends on the content you are doing. If you are on the cutting edge and everyone is playing perfectly, you would value any advantage. But, no offence meant, by the virtue of you having to ask the question, I’m guessing you’re not, in which case it won’t matter much. Even if you’re in a Heroic raiding guild, you would probably find you would see more improvement in your dps from practicing on a dummy and adjusting talents than you would from the increased stat budget.
None taken, and no, I am not. I wish I could be more competitive, but really can’t afford time these days.

Dependent on the “BiS” slots for your specialization. If your BiS Ring/Cloak is less useful than the BiS Pants/Boots, go for the former. Stat count and replaceability matter a lot. You probably will not want to replace the item in your Legendary slot.
