Basically, I want rank 3 strife, I really don’t like PvP. Is it against the rules to buy an arena rating boost with gold? (Obviously it will be self play.)

It’s called ‘’ coaching ‘’ and not boost (still disgusting imo).
Tbh you can get it easily even if you are the worst player in wow history, you are probably not. Just need to spam games and go until 1k4 and cap.
If I’m right you don’t loose any cr if you loose games at 1k4 so it’ s all good for your essence.
That’s fair. If it’s any consolation, I don’t intend to play after getting said essence, so I don’t think it’s that morally awful.
That said, if that is the case, then I guess I’ll just suffer through it. 
Real question, when you buy a “coach” is it actual coaching, or is it just boosting in disguise?

Depending if said player actually learnt anything from the coaching…
I know a friend that has been buying boosts and “coaching” but never actually brought in anything from his sessions when I sometimes queue with him.
He’d make questionable mistakes that would cost us the entire match, one of them was using cacoon on me instead of himself when he was clearly about to die…numerous times in our games.
dont think there is much to learn in current expansion when most classes maintain 20k dps or are god mode till silly % of dampening
