Is it me or am I doing something wrong here?

Is it me or am I doing something wrong… You know how every xpac takes you to the next zone with a quest when you’ve completed all of the quests in that zone… Well with Dragonflight at the moment I’m level 65 and so far I’m only able to find about 10 quests sometimes maybe 6 quests in a zone AND THEN I have to spend hours searching for the next quest which is often in a different zone. This could be the fact that I can’t do any Dragonriding quests due to my disabled hands. I was just wondering if it’s just me or is anyone else finding it hard to find quests after you do a small number of quests or am I actually doin something wrong as it feels really odd compared to every past xpac? I feel like I’m going mad :joy:

And no I’m not trolling or m not a troll like a few people think I am. I like Dragonflight but for me it’s the only awkward xpac Blizzard has done especially regarding finding quests

I am guessing here, but it seems plausible.

On tracing your quest completion for Waking Shores, https://www.wowhead.com/quest-completion-tracker#eu-argent-dawn-luciferkain I see you have actually done the quest Dragonriding, and Skytop, but skipped the other Dragonriding and some of the following quests https://www.wowhead.com/quest=68795/dragonriding#comments:id=5481469

You have done https://www.wowhead.com/quest=68799/return-to-the-ruby-lifeshrine and Training Wings (become the ltiile dragon whelp and kill plants on the inside of the tower) but not

and the next quest

These are needed to progress the Waking Shores storyline.

Now, either you just missed Who Brought the Ruckus, or it depends on having done one of the Dragonriding quests you skipped.

Either way, I’m thinking that’s why future quests have dried up - because you have to complete those.

So, check out Who Brought the Ruckus. If it definitely isn’t there for you, you will have to get back on the quest chain somehow.

If the Dragonriding is the problem, I have a couple of Horde characters that could join you to go through them.

I know that I can carry someone through getting the Dragon Glyphs, because I’ve done it. You click the green arrow when in party, and turn into a whelp who tags along behind. I’m guessing then that you could also do this for the other Dragonriding quests as well.

If you want to try this, let me know, and we’ll give it a shot.

Once you get past the Dragonriding introduction sequence, you don’t actually need Dragonriding much (or at all) through the rest of the chain. It’s a fast way to travel, but as far as I can see, every required quest is accessible without it.

So once you get past this block, you should be good to go.

P.S. Don’t write off Dragonriding entirely just because you can’t do the racing stuff. Hitting Skyward Ascent a couple of times and gliding gently will get you up to a high place and can cover quite a lot of ground, so you can do that much perfectly well.

If you follow the campaign quest line it takes you to next map even before completing the quest line for that map. And you don’t have to look around for these quests, they are marked on the map.

Side story quests are different tho, sometimes you have to look for them or use a guide like wowhead. Are you sure you are looking for the right quests ?

You basiclaly just need to do all the quests that are inside shields. So the campaign. Side quests dont matter.

What a thoughtful and helpful response.

Yes, it is you doing something wrong.
Campaign takes you trough the zone to the next. Side quests and quests for achievement are usualy marked on map with exclamation point.

I myself have been leveling by doing not only the main story but the side quests too - all I could find, basically. Fully finished the first two zones and got to 70 in Azure span, not having most completed there.
So yeah, that’s my own experience of things.

That’s exactly what I’ve been doing. Been 70 for a while but haven’t finished Azure Span yet.

As for the OP’s problem, Grainne’s right. You do have to do a few dragonriding quests as part of the campaign questline. However, your next campaign quest plus side quests should show on your map. Is there maybe an option to make them visible? They’re just there on my map as I guess that’s the default.

You not alone. I had the exact same issue and experience. To me the MQ all led onto each other all the way to the end. The side quests did not and eventually I got lost on them. It’s like you have to search the zone for more to do. Eventually I just used the achievement for each zone to see what I was missing then googled the starting zone for each one. Eventually got them all done.

I do think they made a mistake by having a fiddly “tutorial” quest for Dragon riding be part of the main Campaign and gate progression for the whole story.
These should have been side quests with a comment from the NPC saying “To learn more about Dragon Riding speak with that fellow over there.”.

Took me roughly 7 hours to do the Dractyr flying tutorial and another couple of hours to do the main one.

I managed it by flying through a couple of rings landing and hearthing to the Embassy and taking the flight master back to the top of the tower and flying through another ring or two and repeating. This doesn’t reset the ring count, although don’t walk too close to the quest giver on top of the tower as this will reset it (fly off the side near flight master).
I had to fudge this quest, never managed it the proper way. Never will use such diving and swooping. I use dragon riding to hop over obstacles rather than to actually fly anywhere.

Hope you can find a way to fudge this quest too.
