So we have had the tables for a few xpacs now. They were interesting for A while in WOD until we realised that they were much more part of the content than they should have been. Blizzard understood this and has dumbed them down more each xpac up until & including Shadowlands. in SL we just have the same Mission table again with some slight re-works. These re-works are not even fun, to be honest (or are they and it’s me?).
I think they are not really relevant anymore, A bit pointless, not much fun & time to be retired from 10.0.
Anyone else agree? Or dissagree with me?
I liked them in WoD and honestly wouldn’t have minded seeing them even more fleshed out than they were with more follower customizations, interactions more app support.
I enjoyed collecting followers and seeing them walk around my garrison and the mission felt rewarding and worth doing and with the app it gave me a way to keep playing wow when I was away from my computer.
The “raid” rewards gave me a way to keep up when I didn’t have time or felt like pushing normal content.
I feel no need or desire to even bother with SL’s mission table.
unrewarding and boring followers…
I agree. Nothing much of value to be gained from the mission table but thankfully none of it is obligated now and mostly just if you want kinda thing.
I love mission tables, nice sauce of a lil bit of $$$ ^^
Blizzard are like a dog with a bone about these tables, I expect it in the next expansion too.
I like them. Easy gold.
SL reverted the BFA “dumbed down” design and actually delivered something different.
You’ll get WQ gear, gold, rep, a weekly Stygia/soul ash mission, pets and more importantly profession resources.
There’s a minigame with the various followers and enough variety for it to be somewhat useful. And even better that’s completely optional so no harm done.
Honestly I’m fine with that format, if anything I’d like Blizz to completely remove any form of progression from it (weekly soul ash mission) and just increase profession / gold stuff.
That’s a niche feature which works fine for those who bother doing it, I’d like to keep it that way
Much like with pet-battles, Mission table is just a side-thing to do.
It’s not required in any way, does not hurt you in any way.
Thus there is no reason for you wanting it removed.
The current version is the least bad of them. I visit the table once a day and check the returned missions and send out new ones.
My only issue is that it’s slow to level the champions. Mine are around 38 with one mission a day. I’m sure I could log in early in the morning, afternoon, evening and night and do four or five missions a day but that is just unreasonable to expect.
If the table went away I would not mourn it in the slightest. I don’t think it adds much to the game.
I wish they’d have sunsetted them before even taking them live. They have brought nothing but problems.
Hard disagree. The mission table pays for my game time, I get my runes, herbs, meat, fish and ore from there, too - all of that 100% self sustaining. It’s a literal gold printing machine. A slow printer, which highly benefits from having a dozen of them, but apart from the initial investment (getting 4-5 followers at least, and about 1k anima), it’s almost a no-effort source of gold and other materials.
It’s much more useful than the BfA version was. Didn’t play WoD or Legion, so can’t compare to those, but the Shadowlands iteration of the mission table is very, very, very nice.
I don’t mind the mission table. I just think they have unnecessarily over complicated it in this expansion. I have gotten to a point where I don’t really make progress anymore and have gotten bored of it.
I did enjoy how it worked in BFA, but it didn’t really feel like I was working towards anything. I didn’t play Legion or WoD so can’t speak for those. But I do have an alt that does some Legion ones, I have some followers too low level to do any of the quests, which is quite frustrating.
Mogs
mounts
pets
rep
gold
AP
items to use if low geared
bags full of regeants
runes
ofc they are bad
You would have loved that version you would have made an army of gnome follower’s knowing you
As Ancelyn pointed out and has done in other threads, it’s a nice reason to have some alts, even if they are mostly retired they can give you a nice chunk of gold. It’s the main reason I use the phone app, I never use the guild chat thing and very rarely do I check for world quests on it so if there was no missions to open the app for I would just delete it
I used it for levelling gear and extra supplies for professions. I then got to the stage where I was getting missions for pets and mounts which I’ve finished. So now it’s just soul ash, stygia, supplies and XP to level up my last few followers.
It takes a few minutes every day and gives good rewards
Off topic but i have to say you look really nice in your avatar and mog
If that was aimed at me, thank you
Yes it was
Thanks for the replies so far. I wrote the post as genuinely interested and not as you must remove this feature etc. It is great to see that people do get good use out of it and I can see how it can be beneficial.
