Is it true that demology can do more consistent damage then destruction?

Now its “kinda” true.
646k demolgy vs 682k Destruction in 30 seconds.
1,12m vs 1,17m in 1 minute.
I could do more testing but i kinda see that, demology could do more balanced damage in long run to compare to destruction.
Destruction is like “allot of damage for sometime but than it weakens and needs to wait and than it goes big damage again”
while demology can do the samething but because wrathguard, wrathguard can keep doing damage while you dont even need to cast anything and just wait for another tyrent burst.

Its kinda fun and interesting to check comparisons from time to time but, i can clearly see that destruction can obviously do much more damage then demology, not to forget azerite traits.

PS. THIS TEST WAS DONE WITH NO AZERITE TRAIT ARMOR ON

If you bare it down to basics, Wrathguard + doggies and imps are indeed more consistent damage
Lets say with Inner demons, Imps are always up, and eventually demobolt procs and doggies procs; if you just stand around pressing 0 buttons just when something lights up… your imps and wrathguard do the damage
Built on that, yes… Demo could do more consistend damage, in theory
But in reality I’m not too sure…
Fun to theory craft/test with different talents, azerite traits, essences
But I think its only mater when you are in the upper 0.1%
Every other situation be it M+, Raid, or just wandering around, totally unnoticable - imho, of course
But I could be wrong

I don’t think so. Dest just does way too much burst damage when Infernal is up. Before the second Infernal comes down, I don’t think Demo can close the gap. But perhaps that’s just me for I have 40% haste baseline.

So many veriables in this equation, its pretty hard - if not impossible - to tell (at least in my oppinion)
But to be honest its not that a bad thing for me, this murky line means you are not forced to play one spec while the other two are dead, all of them are could be viable
Well, this is just my two copper of course

It’s more consistent, stable and higher overall on single target. There is only 1 real single target fight in the raid, though. As soon as adds appear, destruction can benefit from Flashpoint and Rolling Havoc.

I am yet to lose to destruction warlocks on any of the bosses on nyalotha or mythic+, even in niche destro fights with cleave I just blast beyond them in dps, even if the guy has 10ilvl more than me.

On N’zoth hc I leave every class behind on the dps meter.

Sure I may have not been competing against the best players but I just have not experienced any situation besides arenas where destro would on any way excell over demonology.

While this is true, Demon pets have a horrible AI and target switching is damn hard with them… they simply refuse to listen or with a huge delay, so technically as a Demo the best you can do is to tunel the boss to pull huge numbers compensating other who turn their attention to the adds
Tho’ this is just my oppinion

nice. and for the relevant damage on that boss you are second last

In hc nyalotha I am most of the time on ST bosses top dps, on aoe bosses amongst top 3.

Important bosses like Nzoth there is rarely any competition, be it pug or guild raids.

For hard content like mythic raids it might be different but for easier content like hc, demo is in a really good spot.
