Is the subscription worth it now, or is the game more or less dead right now? I’m talking about the state of m+ and raids (pugs)

If you wanna RP right now, sure. If you also want some content then wait till Midnight Pre-patch on January 21st.

You could wander on a free trial character for a bit to see how it feels, I suppose, but I think Imperra is right with the suggestion to wait for Midnight if it’s content you’re looking for.
Personally I say no for m+ and raids, if the state of those things made you quit I have no knowledge of meaningful improvements to how that content is done.
For RP, its good, very worth it
If you can be bothered to find a nice raid and mythic focused guild? Yeah, probably, but that’s the real crux of the issue, isn’t it? YOU have to put in the effort to make it worth your money, but most likely, its probably better to wait until Midnight drops, gives you time to reflect on if you want to keep playing or not, if the annoyance of finding a good guild is worth it.. or the fresh leveling start, to a new max level, maybe try out the new class-trees, the Haranir allied race and see how you like that.
