Is it worth spending time gearing up near season 2? War within

Hello I play frost mage, currently 621 item level doing mythic+ dungeons. I’m just wondering if it’s worth spending time trying to push my item level higher so close to the season 2 release? Just to start at the bottom again
What do you think?

well, trying to get into groups next season will be a lot harder with low gear from this season.

We will get easy ~640 ilvl from whatever next season anyway, so i wouldnt bother gearing up for next season. Just play when you enjoy playing

If you want to jump into heroic raiding and mythic plus, you’re going to need a high item level… the community is dreadful when it comes to joining groups. The try hards will even want to check your logs / progress from the previous tier also…

You’ll get into casual groups quite easily but i imagine it would still require a high (ish) item level. 630 upwards

You will probably get that ilvl from a theatre, or awaking the machines, or turning on a couple of flames in hollowfall.

that seems kinda unlikely to me, honestly.

Everything will go up by like 40 ilvl. We get veteran gear from world events like the ones i mentioned. Veteran gear goes up to 606 ilvl right now.

Imo the most important thing when it comes to starting a new season with a character is getting decent score rather than getting a tons of gear.
If you get, I would say, around 2.6k (which is really easy to get right now) you should be ok for next season as in you will be able to queue for low keys and start gearing and gaining score from there.
Though this always depends on what the community and the keyholder determines as acceptable score, so this is more of poorly elaborate prediction.

Thought I would say to try to get a bit more gear still, like five ilvl or something along those lines.
If you start the season fresh might take sometime to gear up:

  • You only get one reward for each even per week (you can get duplicates too).
  • The competition to get into mid keys could be high as:
    • People who parked their full or almost fully geared character might resub.
    • People that are still playing and have gear might play.
    • People like your character which are not very geared might play.
    • New characters might play.

There could be a spot (key level) that all those players meet due to the level of rewards that the key offers and level of difficulty that the key has which could make DPS queues longer and the disadvantage of having low gear can be intensified (very bad spot to be in).

TLDR: get score and more gear if you have nothing else to do.

I think if you’re enjoying playing the game, gearing up happens naturally and it isn’t necessary to ask this question. The answer is always yes because you want to play the game.

But since you’re asking if it’s worth it, the implication is you are not enjoying playing the game so the answer is likely no. The running start will not save more time in S2 than you would have spent in S1.

Nah ~
Veteran gear can go i believe 642 ilvl or 645 ilvl and drops normal heroic dungeons ~~
The weeklies gives you an 100% of getting a champion gear than can go to 656/659 ilvl ~

I believe is pretty pointless . If you don’t push something like m+ or doing raids ~progress with a guild i don’t see any reason to further upgrade or spend money to buy/create 636 since the lowest gear in season 2 is better quality than the highest mythic quality gear

Just wait for season 2 …and redo the same gameplay
