I just realized there are no lockboxes (or they are so rare I never got one)…
And I don’t recall any chests requiring lockpicking.
Yes, it totally is.
That’s a shame. I don’t play a rogue but I thought it was an interesting part of the game.
Even a small thing like small socializing - I never had troubles finding a rogue to open me some boxes.
In Retail wow, yes. In Classic Era however there is lockpicking skill last time I played, but it’s really annoying to level it up.
Honestly, I think they should make lock-picking and stealing items just a side-profession for all classes, like it is in ESO.
Yes. Just like underwater breathing potions or the warlock’s unending breath. Can’t recall when was the last time when I was even close to running out of air underwater. It’s a pity, the game is losing yet another RP flavour.
Recently, I started to level a warlock in classic and I was so happy with the little imp and voidwalker grimoire quest. It was nothing long or complicated but it still added a flavour to the game. I miss class quests like the warrior Redridge gnoll run.
Idk if it contributes so much to the RPG aspects. I would rather call it gatekeeping instead. I am honestly glad I barely get any of those locked chests from any era of WoW content because it would really annoy me to have to find a rouge to have them open my loot crate.
Blacksmiths can craft now keys too so it’s not just a rogue monopoly anymore.
If we get Tol Dagor dungeon in upcoming seasons, then it will be non-obsolete.
they are indeed very rare, i got one i think i got cloak out of it
and i play this game since the last winter so its alot of time for just 1 box
Not sure but I can vaguely remember engineers having bombs too for “inconvenient” (pad)locks.
Rogues are obsolete.
According to wowhead, serevite lockboxes do exist.
that;s good
I have received 2-3 of the new DF lockboxes so I can confirm they exist, b ut they are significantly less common that they were in BfA and SL.
I honestly hadn’t noticed about the lockboxes. Seems I haven’t missed them
Not in the literal sense of the word obsolete, but certainly one of the niche abilities rarely seeing much use.
It would be cool in world or solo content, to have special boxes and doors, that only rogues can see and are designed purely for that class.
The items within could be quest, flavour or fun rogue class items that fit the fantasy.
Maybe letters, notes, jewellery, that tells a secret or interesting story via quests, and adds to rogue or npc lore. Perhaps even a pet you adopt along the way.
