Is phase 3 honor grind impossible?

So a disclaimer, I’m not a WoW wizard, and I only just started playing WoW again after a 10 year break. So far, I’ve had fun with Phase 1 and Phase 2, but… With the introduction of rank 6 and 7 through PvP, I’m genuinely wondering if it is even remotely possible to rank up as a non-sweatlord casual Alliance player?

So I’m rank 5, and the addon Ranker tells me I need at the very least 33750 honor to progess even slightly towards rank 6. Anything lower than that won’t count towards anything at all? I won’t factor in honor from BGs, as Alliance gets absolutely decimated in every single BG I enter – so let’s just look at honor earned exclusively from STV PvP:

Let’s say as a mid-core/casual player I earn 500 copper coins on average during STV, and I can squeeze in two rounds every day because of work and I won’t be sitting up until midnight. That is 1000 copper coins daily, which translate into 10 silver coins, which translate into ONLY 10 bloodstained commendations = 10 x (measly) 250 honor = 2500 honor… That means in a weeks span, I only earn (2500 x 7) = 17500 from STV, which is HALF of what I need to earn any slight rank progression whatsoever. This is not even accounting for what will be need from rank 6 into 7!

Bloodstained commendations during phase 2 were 25 copper each, now they are 4 times as expensive at 1 silver coin (100 copper). Please correct me and tell me I’m wrong, and if I just should quit the grind here and now because it will be unobtainable for me.

Am I wrong in my assessment in that I will NEVER see any rank progression at all below 33750 weekly for rank 6, and onward?

EDIT: So the general consensus is just to “suck it up” and keep running BGs, which is expected outside of STV, naturally… However, when it is coming from Horde players… You are being intellectually dishonest if you won’t admit to the state of PvP already in Phase 3 BGs; it is a complete and utter slaughterfest against Alliance. I’ve seen Horde rake in easy 2000 honor in a single win, while Alliance is left bleeding with a couple of hundred honor at best. The solution seems to be run BGs (while lot losing what sanity I have left), and stack ridiculous amounts of Silver Massacre Coins + Copper Massacre Coins as they don’t have a cap unlike Bloodstained Commendations now have at 99. Then transmute them into honor when you are certain you can reach some sort of weekly cap to progress. I will look forward to AV as we will, at the very least, see some resemblance of back and forth

Yeah they gutted the honor gain from doing STV event, better just queue up for AB and suffer for about a day or two to get the 110k needed for rank 7.

They seem to have changed their mind regarding how easy it should be to get honor. You’re not missing much by not being r7 - the Emerald Wardens gear is almost identical bar (literally) just a few stat points, so it looks like they’re putting equivalent gear in you can obtain via PvE.

If you really want to hit max rank without doing serious PvP for some reason, wait until next phase for AV. It’s basically a PvE mount race (get your carrot ready) and has a very generous honor reward for what it actually requires.

I needed 40k honor for rank 7 when i reached lvl50. My only option to get the honor i needed was tp gank in incursions. I litterally got all the honor i needed in less than 2 hours.

Yes stv honor is nerfed like ****. BGs are unplayable if you playing with malee characters, or u playing alliance xD.
They solved it… to make pvp a joke.
Honestly there is not much point to play this game, if you are not a raidlogger.

For some classes -yes, not for mine. It sucks for both pve and pvp , but it’s still something

Emerald Wardens gear was a great idea. It keeps newbies and honor leechers out of battlegrounds, i was surprised last night with a win ratio of 7:4

What Emerald Wardens set differs from the Knight-Lieutenant equivalent?

Its pretty weird take to not take battlegrounds into consideration when talking about honor. You know, the primary way of earning honor.
You get to AB and fight. You get thousands of honor. A lot more than current STV event.

Get a small group together and go BGs it that easy… everyone just got used to the path of least resistance STV event where they would farm coins for fast honor, they now think every other way of earning honor is “impossible”

The chest piece gives 20 AP which is equivelant to 10 agility if you’re ranged and 20 agility if you’re melee - the r7 piece gives 15 agility.

Dodge doesn’t matter in PvE content and your crit chance comes from accessories, trinkets, talents and, when raiding, Ferals. Those alone make you hit a point where you can easily hit a soft cap on crit.

The only place where the agility being switched to AP is an issue is PvP - and if that bothers you I assume you’re a PvPer anyway and have had no issue getting the honor to hit r7.

The stamina loss is negligible and like I said already, it gives slightly lesser stats. For a set you can get incredibly easily not doing PvP.

If all you play is PvP then you should have enough honor to hit r7 by either this week or next. The honor grind in SoD is incredibly forgiving with everyone not being held hostage to those in the higher brackets.

Honor grind is easy in SoD. Just do BGs. When I was doing WSG for the reputation I think I got around 100 - 150 k honor per week.

Just bring the tokens back, 1silver = 1000honor.
The pvp set isn’t that much of an upgrade except for bear tank.

i literaly got 20k honor doing like 6 abs only, man up and play bgs instead of wanting easy mode stv

That’s nice (as a horde hurhur), solo ally in ab nets you about 200honor and maybe some rep if you don’t get insta stomped in about 10-15mins. Just bring the tokens back

This is simply untrue. Returning 3 marks gives you 750 honor, so losing AB is 250 honor minimum. In reality you get like 1-2k for even losing AB, unless you get like 0hk farmed at your base, which doesn’t happen in current matchmaking.

On the flip side, the honor difference between winning and losing isn’t that big, you get honor passively the longer the BG goes on for, the annoying part is the amount of time you have to spend in AB. I personally enjoy doing BGs but each one of them has at least 1 massive design flaw that takes away from the enjoyment.

The virgin AFK hill rusher vs the chad bunker/tower defender. Jokes aside though I hope they end up buffing those mobs too so that you are at least compelled to play the BG the way it was designed instead of just rushing the boss. You’ll actually see some PvP in AV that way.
