Is rare scanner or handy notes?

Is rare scanner a better version of handy notes? is their any major features one has that one doesn’t?

Handy notes shows where they are/can spawn on the map.

Rare scanner tells you when they are spawned and near.

Can use both in conjunction with eachother

So without handynotes rare scanner will still show locations on map even if i’m not near them, they just might not be active right?

From my experience NPC scan doesn’t show anything on your mini map.

It works by scanning the area you’re in at regular intervals (i have mien set to 20 seconds) and then giving you a notification (mines a fog horn) when a rare is there. All i get is the fog horn and a frame with the name of the mob pop up. Doesn’t show where it is or anything on the map.

NPC scan is more of a ‘this mob is in the area youre in’

Handynotes will show where it can spawn. Currently i have the handynote for the current patch. Its shows on the map where rares spawn, where events happen, where chests are for the assaults. Thats it. My NPC scan only sounds when a rare has spawned within the area im in i then have to look at my map to find out where it spawns them make my way there.
