Just came to actually play Dragonflight with my fresh Shadow Priest.
Is it just me or the spec is in complete shambles and worthless?
Did some research on EU there is not a single Shadow Priest in top 300. People place it in the lowest tiers possible.
Arenas:
While PvP-ing with it I simply cannot do ANYTHING. Every comp I face is a melee comp with a few exceptions. No matter how hard I burst, no matter how good I play and survive I simply am not capable of doing much.
BGs:
I guess it’s fine but it’s by no stretch of the imagination enjoyable.
Are there any plans to fix it if it’s actually as bad as I experience it to be? It’s so horrid I’m considering quitting just few days after coming in, it’s downright pathetic for me at the moment.
SP are having a particular hard time at the moment due to the strength of DK, War, DH and Rogue whom all counter SP pretty hard and when most lobbies are a combination of these 4 classes SP feels awful in shuffle…
3s can work and people make it work which is mainly due communication and peeling but It’s highly unlike SP will see any play in the AWC
additionaly some have made it work in Shuffle but this is due to 2 reasons
Pre-existing MMR that allowed them play at levels where mongo triple melee and inexperienced healers don’t exist
Playing through the lower MMR before FOTM happened
I just don’t think they know what to do with it and this is expansion has mucked about with it so much.
The tier set is just weird and forces you to play around SW:D . The four piece is even weirder, buffing SW:Pain but not working with Misery, so you have to press an extra button.
They could have done so much fun stuff. More tendrils. We love ghosts, make them fun and more meaningful etc.
But the worst is pvp- I have 4 equally geared ranged dps and SP just is so behind all of them in damage and utility.
So… it is getting a lot better but still feels like I don’t have damage.
Today I got the sets and I’m 482/486 ilvl. My issue with the Spec so far is the survival aspect of it + it seems like it has barely no cleave pressure.
I can’t seem to survive vs WW/Arms for an example and it feels brutal to try and cast, I am a good faker so I manage that somehow.
It feels like Shadow Priest is no longer that AOE cleave pressure class that eventually will win if not handled fast.
Seems like you’re not getting rewarded at all for placing your dots and there’s a whole RNG aspect of these instant casts which are really really important to line bursts as much as we can.
I also noticed that none of the last talents provide any noticeable impact and one takes precedent over all else.
Idol of C’thun is the only somewhat OK thing to pick, looking from my meters the rest of the Idols are so poor in performance it’s downright better to just not pick them.
I’ve experimented with Y’Shaarj vs melees to no good success.
Feels horrible overall but it can be a skill issue + gear check.
WW is number 1 brainless monkey pvedpszug spec with DH on the same level. Please don’t start this teary story about how squishy monks are and noodle damage outside of Serenity. And of how difficult it is to connect with 25 thousand rolls.
Its only 3 rolls. WW has allot more to juggle then the other mentioned specs. Especially compared to DH and BM.
Complain about the damage as much as you want but don’t act like the spec is on the same level of simplicity as the rest.
They should just add being able to move while channeling spells on SP
Like void torrent should be able to be cast on the move and mind flay
Make some kinda shadow apparition teleport, where you switch places with the shadow and players auto target it, so you can have a skill expression by doing great switches and people blow cc into it or you can use it while stunned
Stuff like that would make SP interesting for me atleast but right now it is just a Advanced training dummy
I wanted to try SP because of the cool spec fantasy and because it seemed kind of logical after playing elemental and to a lesser extent, balance…
The spec indeed does have many cool stuff, but overall, and I usually hate that using that word, it feels clunky - lots of buttons to press to the poi t of being bloated (dmg wise, not def and utility) but doeasnt have that oomph feel, doesnt feel fluid compared to mentioned specs.
Always had mad respect for SP players, they are usually a force to be reckoned with even when sp is bad, so no hate here, just my subjective opinion.
I like how many WW players are still memeing thAt WW is squishy and dies in a stun, whil the truth is their defensives were actually overbuffed to the point they rarely use port anymore, something which was one of the staple things of differenting good and bad wws.
WW is too tanky, especially considering how overtuned their damage is on top of their usual mobility.
Can all these WW monks stop acting like the “hit combo” takes 200 iq? I mean you have cooldown on your attacks as long as you don’t tiger palm twice in a row you are golden. Even easier to get a double/tripple leg sweep because of RoP.
if you could ever connect to a caster other than an spriest this would be true, but this is obviously what people can’t see.
anyway on topic: whenever I have spriests in lobby, they tend to do pretty well with 3+ wins,
stop playing victims just cause your class isn’t straight up faceroll to win
