i quit classic in phase 1 due to world buff meta + having to get those annoying enchants from library, does TBC have less of such annoying things and u can actually just enjoy the game or no? how do enchants work in tbc?
There is no world buffs, and shoulder enchant is from Aldor/scryer which can be a big and expensive grind if you want to get the exalted version early on.
Head enchant is from reputation you gain from doing dungeons.
Reputation farm in TBC can be quite a big grind, so if going to Dire Maul to get a enchant was too much work for you, im guessing you wont enjoy it.
Unless you enjoy farming dungeons you dont need anything but the reputation from, but judging from your post, i really doubt that.
why they always gotta add this stupid stuff in
Lol it’s not stupid . First of all dungeons in TBC are 2-3 times smaller than classic instances . Second for every dungeon you clear you get a badge of justice , a new currency that you can exchange for epic catch up gear and other usefull stuff . Third the final boss of each dungeon drops a crafting material that you are going to need no matter what your crafting professions are . Last but not least you are going to need them for your raid attunements . So dungeon grind is far from stupid
Just want to point out that the grind you are refering to here, are heroics. at which point you are already revered and have enough rep for the head enchants,
Getting to revered was the grind i was talking about, cause you will need to farm normal dungeons that you dont need anything from just to get the rep to enter heroics.
The OP doesnt really hit me as the kind of guy who would enjoy any kind of grind
what if you level through dungeons? does that help skip some of the rep grind
Yes it does . There are a lot of guides out there about optimal dungeon leveling .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhrB1gUhPM4&t=1230s here is one of many so you can get an idea
The tbc meta is quite different from classic yes. There are rep grinds of course, but I personally think that approach is much better than the classic world buffs/consumable/enchants approach.
Also arena.
You cant skip the grind by leveling in dungeons, but it definatly make it a easier grind. Low level dungeons only give rep up to honored, then you need to either farm 68+ dungeons to revered, or you can go do quests that you skipped by dungeon leveling
Questing to 70 should take you to honored as well, but that leave you with only way to get revered is trough dungeon spam.
So no matter how you do it, there will be some grinding involved, but dungeon leveling by doing a faction dungeon up to honored then swap zone, and do that with all factions available is definatly the most efficient route you can go if the goal is to get into heroics asap.
TBC is really front loaded, masses of content at the start with questing, rep, attunements, professions (crafting is massive in TBC) etc and then once you’ve done that you have very little to keep up with.
It’s like maybe you no-life for the first 4 weeks and then you raid log.
Currently i’m already being faced with some new meta’s (if that’s the correct word for it)
My lock in classic is my main, he has herbalism and alchemy, apart from making me a lot of gold, it also saves me a lot of gold. Yesterday i was told that i have to ditch those profs and get tailoring and enchanting because of the prof-bound enchants (like f/i ring enchants).
So i to be able to be my own alchemist, to save a a lot of golds, i need to level an alt with those profs or stay poor during all of my tbc time. I don’t have the experience that tailoring + enchanting will make me as much golds as alch/herb did.
Enchanting isn’t that bad tbh, it’s not like alchemy but if you are the first to get a rare wanted receipe there is a short time you can ask crazy price for it …also being able to disenchant questrewards and drops to sell is pretty profitable too
You can make money by selling cloth cd’s and bags.
Some of the enchants will be very expensive as well.
Enchanting as a profession works similar to vanilla, while non-enchanting enchants are less of a thing (and IMHO librams in classic aren’t anything hard or time consuming).
If you have the right enchant recipes you can ask for more. Early on for Kara weapon enchants there may be more traffic on farming Kara trash over and over to craft cheap epic cloth shoulders to DE them into mats for those enchants that will be in short supply for some time.
IMHO TBC has quite the emphasis on resources - wherever for crafting or rep turn ins. Plus atunements. So if you want to be lazy you won’t have a good time as there is a lot of stuff everywhere and you will need large chunk of it to be able to do HC dungeons to then be able to raid and to have pre-raid BIS - from professions, quests and faction rep rewards.
TBC is way better.
why is that?
Well, the comments above have covered things pretty well.
In short; you don’t have to go out of your way to be “optimal” (in the eyes of an obese sweatlord) in TBC. No need to run around the world collecting world buffs (which I have never, ever done); and rep grinds, enchants and so on sort of come naturally by just playing the game and doing heroic dungeons.
Sure, you will have sweaty, meta-obsessed people doing things a certain way. But the ways you can abuse the meta in TBC is much more limited than in Vanilla, you could say.
I think most people will just play the game the way they want and everyone’s happy.
TBC does have a lot of grind and a lot of travel. Depends on your definition of “annoying” I guess.
classic is the beta for tbc. not saying classic is bad but it feels, plays and looks unfinished. for me, tbc was when world of warcraft got everything right
