I would gladly pay 50 euros one time fee for 5 more slots for 5 dractyrs one for each dragonflight. But paying for a second monthly sub is a bit expensive for me.

and update the character selection screen while at it too
had to delete few alts i played before because its a big cluster
and tbh one of said alts is my draenei dk a former main and i did not want to delete it
we are getting a UI change so why not do this? to play the old alts mostly at lvl 50
and level them through another outland zone or northrend finish the loremaster achievements
then again it makes me want to be able to replay the former attunement quest
for a higher item level chestplate of adal(special delivery to shattrath city)
same with the nagrand quest for the matching legs after we get this

Considering how much the selection of races, classes and customisations has ballooned since vanilla it really is time they increased the cap.
It seems amazing to me that many people seem to find it absurd that people have 50 alts, considering the game is nearly SEVENTEEN years old, and also considering this is an MMO RPG-- a game that is entirely about our characters. It really isn’t that astonishing for people who actually find levelling enjoyable, and indeed for people like me who find levelling to be the best part of the game.
The incredulous brigade really don’t help the cause either. “You can’t play that many.” Well, one can’t play two characters at once, so what is their point? They have been played, and they will be played is what counts. Having hundreds of mounts or indeed anything shouldn’t make sense to people who make those kinds of arguments.

I prefer to pay for an increase in slots in my account than to create a new account where I’ll not have achievements and the benefits that I have.
With a new account I would have to start from 0 and I don’t liike this option.

If you create a wow2 license in your battle net account you will get 50 more slots and the characters there will have all of your titles, mounts, pets and achievement points. But that still means paying for a second sub monthly. You can even recruit that license and get benefits on your main license. +1 for the one time fee for a few extra slots.

Anyway this would need, as you say, one more subscription. It would have 50 more slots, but this would already be excessive.
With 5 to 10 more I would have enough.

this discussion was at least long overdue ; it is a hazzle having 2 or more accounts and with all these allied races it is definitely a good time to increase available character slots per each account

honestly, i have just reached the limit again of 50 characters after i purged it a year ago or so. the interest in playing the new race is literally zero. i dont have any characters i want to delete anymore.

50 has been good for the last 15 years but with so many races now /between the Horde and Alliance it’s time to up that number, I’m all for doubling it and leaving it there for a good while since race additions will probably remain slow going forward.
I have 48 currently and I want to bring back a few old names from the past, I’m also sitting on a huge number of names I want to use too which is annoying when I can’t use them although I technically have 49 because Dracthyr once they come out.

But see, you are missing the point, if you want more than 50 characters, then Blizzard offer you the option of increasing the limit by buying another account, and therefore getting them another subscription.

Yes it’s 17 years old but how many characters do you actively play? I’ve got about. 40 characters made since I started I play 3 atm. My main for raiding and then two others I’m doing m+ On atm because I’m done on my main
It’s also not ridiculous to want multiple of the same race.
I mean first off it’s nice to have a male and female of each.
I haven’t the space but I’d like to have one of each Mag’har type, as they are effectively 3 or 4 subspecies in one. Blackrock, Laughing Skull… etc. Also a Darkspear Troll and Sand Troll. Wildhammer and Bronzebeard Dwarf… you get the idea.
That fifty limit fills up fast. Also for certain kinds, who like to see all the variants, it’s nice to have a Druid of each race (unique forms), and Paladin (unique mount and theme).

Atm I have one male and female of each race, allied races included. I have at least 1 of each 36 specs for the legion artifacts. I have 1 of each class for each covenant at max renown. I have a few level 20s on a trial license for old legendary weapons and matching mogs. I have a max level Neutral Pandaren on the Wandering Isle. I also have a max level character on Exile’s Reach starting ship that I level only with pet battles. What I don’t have is any free char slots above 50 for the new race/class and I would love to have 5 of them, one for each dragonflight. If I delete 1 of the 48 renown chars then the whole 1 of each class for each covenant idea will brake. And I can’t delete the neutral and the pet battle char whatever happens. Just let me pay 50 or 100 euros once for 5-10 more slots instead of having to get a second sub.

Also I don’t like to ‘fill up’ a model (male and female, each race) with a class like a Druid, Death Knight or Demon Hunter. With a Druid you hardly ever see the base form, and with DKs and DHs they’ve got a corrupted skin on top. So I like to have four Night Elves for instance, one male and female without corruption or in forms, and a Druid and Demon Hunter.
I can’t realise that goal though, because fifty slots isn’t enough with all the other races in mind. Though there are a few examples of models I dislike so much I don’t bother. Male Goblins, Male Pandaren and Mechagnomes in general. I like normal Gnomes, but those stupid Mechagnomes… they look awful to me because all armour just doesn’t work (with the SINGLE exception of the Heritage set, and that even only works with the gold coloured arms and legs).

indeed two of my mains are female belf rets 2 fem belf hunters third is fem velf
belf lock belf dh belf mage
and theres the alts the current character select screen cant fit
i have a former draenei dk main and a void elf rogue id like to restore on dragonmaw
and level my lvl 50 female human paladin and fem nelf balance druid to 60
anywhere but SL(draenor/wrath? for the few quests that reward trinkets)
but there is not enough room right now that is my issue

I have a second WoW license that I can’t even access because paying my main sub and that one is too expensive for me.
I have so many characters I’d love to level or just RP with and I can’t because they’re on the second account.
And now with the dracthyr coming I’m gonna have to either move some lesser played characters to that account or delete some. The former is too expensive to do and I simply don’t have the heart for the latter because even if those lesser played characters aren’t being played now they will be played at some point.

You are assuming everyone actually can afford 2 subs or more … and that altaholism is unacceptable ? Running 2 subs is not only expensive but also a hassle … swapping to check something only to swap back etc …
And then addons like altoholic will only tell you what is on the current license, and not at all what the other license contains , neither characters nor their banks
