The cosmology chart shows life inbetween arcane and light… but I don’t think that is true.
we have various constructs of the titans, which are arcane constructs of course, because the titans are arcane. then they gained the curse of the flesh from the old gods, who are creatures of void… so life, is surely arcane plus void?
also, if we consider that life did arise on azeroth before the titans arrived. and azeroth was infected by the old gods back then, right?
I believe what this is showing us… is that any titan who is corrupted by void, develops into a planet with life on it’s surface. why did the other titans awaken? because they weren’t corrupted. no life blossomed on them.
clearly the void on it’s own isn’t inherently bad… but it does give rise to chaos to a certain degree, and what is life if not chaotic?
This does make me wonder though… what would we get if we saw arcane beings that have light seep into them? actually this sounds like spirits to me.
is the shadowlands actually supposed to be between light and arcane?
edit: I think I’m posting in wrong place aren’t I… I never visit the lore forums… do I have to go there?
That’s really not much of a reason for the chart to be inaccurate.
Remember two things here. First, is that the chart was made based on a viewpoint. Which most likely came from a titan. It wasn’t designed as an absolute thing but more of how a historian writes about a piece of history. So expect problems with it.
And second thing is, Life between arcane and light doesn’t mean others have no power over life or that light has no power over death.
We have a lightforged undead. We have undead given life with the power of death. Their powers aren’t exclusive. The nature of those powers however, is exclusive.
It is stated in chronicle v2 that Draenor had an accelerated growth of life in the form of the primals specifically because of the absence of a world soul. The lore established here is that world souls consume portions of the 5th element spirit to sustain themselves. Because of Draenor’s Abundance of spirit life developed very quickly there Before Aggramar turned up and created the breakers to combat the rampaging primals.
Since to our knowledge no other cosmic forces had a role in creating life on Draenor I think we can take it as cannon that life does develop of its own accord in the great dark beyond.
Keeping in mind that this cannon lore is from the perspective of the titans and new lore may be revealed in the future about how life begins that perhaps the titans were unaware of
Edit: I would also contest that azeroth’s world soul has been corrupted by the void. Whilst the Black empire was trying to burrow down to azeroth they were halted before they were able to corrupt her… as far as we know anyway
The dreadlords were just the last drop if i recall correctly. He literally pooped his pants when he discovered the void lords and thought nobody could defeat them (not even Azeroth, but having them corrupt her would be a instant lose for Sargeras, so he intended to make her his own) and as such started his Burning Crusade with the Demons which he freed in the process.
Wouldnt be so sure but i wont say that what you said isnt potentially true. I would rather say they are pure beings of the arcane but have the possibility (or racial) to be more drawn towards a certain aspect of the chart like Eonar being drawn towards life and Argus being drawn towards Death. I think the exception here will be Azeroth by being a Titan whos racial is going to be the entire chart aside from Void (or maybe even Void thanks to the Old gods attempting to corrupt her but ultimately failing thanks to the Titans and later us)
As for the chart itself: I think its less about where they stand in the Order but rather whats their opposing force like Life and Death and Order with Disorder and ultimately light with void. Because as Verithorn said, life can be consumed by void and light. But this applies to everything as well since the Void and the Light are consuming/corrupting forces in general.
Not sure if you’ve readed the Nathrezim book in Shadowlands, but it was planned to turn a titan from Order to Disorder, it was all in the Dreadlords plans.
And they suceeded
In many ways, the titans will be the easiest to manipulate. Their singular goal is to impose structure upon everything they see.
Show them a force that opposes their drive for Order, and they will be consumed by their urge to eradicate it.
Their pantheon, so seemingly united in purpose, is vulnerable to fracturing.
Yes every World soul is made from Arcane, but it’s thanks to that Arcane which allows them to be ALIVE.
I mean look at Eonar for example, A being of Arcane but which can control Life at Will.
By the looks of it by the " First Ones " She may be whats keeping everything at Balance as you said about Azeroth being part of every chart parts, Void included. (Would explain why everyone wants Azeroth so much, why it gets attacked every 2 years by a new threat.)
Yes everything can pretty much be consumed by anything.
I just took up " Life " as an example in sake of the topic.
The Dreadlords are a fine example of this, as they are trying to infiltrate every cosmic force in the Chart, since by the look of it the Dreadlords are beings of Death and not the Void, as they say Life is the hardest to become 1 With.
If they were beings of the Void then Light would have been the Hardest, but we have Lothraxion.
If the Dreadlords were Void-related beings, then Light would completely destroy the Dreadlord.
So Life would be the hardest to join as stated in the Infiltration Book.
Ye i had, but i had forgotten about it. So ye manipulated might be fitting, afaik the moment he discovered the void lords this would have happened anyhow (his Burning Crusade that is).
I remember reading it because of the Naaru part. With Lothraxion probably in a disguise in terms of siding with them. Which is why i support the claim that we will face the army the of the light (probably started by Lothraxion behind the scenes) but with A’dal siding with us against them since A’dal is an odd one even for a Naaru (he isnt as blind as the rest and more emotional as his kin as visible when he went out of his way for Bridenbrad).
Thats why i said racial. It appears the titans are drawn to one part of the chart, liek Eonar to Life and Argus to Death.
Well alone for the fact that shes basically a titan on roids as it seems in general. It would also explain why WE are capapble of playing punching ball with all the cosmic threats and why even the void has begun to fear us. I strongly support the claim that Azeroth has buffed (unconsciously) the living poop out of us.
They also appear to originate from the Shadowlands as it seems.
Yeah the Titans would eventually find out about the Void Lords.
But i don’t think it was an Accident that the Dreadlords chose the strongest Warrior of the Titans to turn into Despair and Disorder
Lothraxion would most likely join Death in an instant if it came to a
Light vs Undeath battle (I’m sure he would be pleased after what Illidan did to the Prime Naaru) x’D
Yeah.
Yeah the Dreadlords are most likely made from the Shadowlands.
They studied the Cosmic Forces, such as Void - They told Sargeras about the Powers of the Void = Easy turning a titan of Order to Disorder.
Nathreza Is " Said " to be the Homeworld of the Dreadlords.
What if this isn’t the case, what if after them learning about the different forces, they also learned how to make portals etc, and they found a deserted planet and claimed it for themself in the plane of " Reality ".
Yeah Shadowlands will drop heavy Lore bombs, both for Lore lovers & Speculators!.
We will know way more about the Cosmology forces tho thats confirmed, as Blizz did say that we would explore the Cosmology chart way more in the Shadowlands expansion.
oh awesome!!
I had to skip over your posts i’m afraid because I love learning the lore while I play, it’s one of my favourite parts of playing the game.
I hadn’t considered that they might actually delve more into the cosmology… I had gotten hte feeling they were done with it. it’s all been, “azeroth woonz” “turtle to the water” “sylvanas bad” blah blah blah.
How did Sargeras discover the existence of the void lords in the first place?
Because he discovered a cult of void aligned dreadlords who under interrogation spilled the beans about the void lords. Given the dreadlords’ deceptive nature and affinity for scheming it is entirely possible if not very likely that they intended for Sargeras to not only discover them but for him to sh*t his pants and lose his mind.
