I am subbed for wotlk but is the retail expac worth it? I am leveling this character at the moment but I hardly played the last 4 expacs cause I didn’t like them. I’ve heard this expac is better… fine. But is it actually good? Is it as good as MoP?
I feel like this expac might be as alienating as the last 3. I can’t even smelt a copper bar and I don’t even know what mythic keys are.

As good as MOP is impossible due to nostalgia/ favorism. DF has been good for many so far, though. What I like is the freedom you have, activities wise. I’m not much of a raider, I prefer M+. I just do 6/8 heroic on my chars for the weakly (pun intended) vault and run some M+’s to spend time and have fun. Meanwhile I’m better geared than my mythic raiding friend who enjoys wiping 4/8 mythic. To each, their choice.
The world quests/ events can also give you mediocre/ mid level gear, but I dislike having to track timers/ do boring kill X dudes or catch Y fish quests. Other people might enjoy that though.
Reputation etc doesn’t really matter, I have 0 focus for it. Only gives you some transmogs by the looks of it, can skip as a whole.
Compared to classic, I’d say DF offers a lot of QOL and a more casual vibe. No need for FOMO and no hard requirements for content. On my tank alt I literally started running M+10s with 330 ilvl, while you need like 359 to queue for lfr. It’s ridiculous, but people are willing to help out and it’s fun/ challenging to do so. Went to 380ilvl in a day that way, was a fun couple of hours.
Hard to answer when we don’t know what your goal is and what you like.
I could say it’s worth it but that’s only from my perspective and what I like.

For me: Yes it is.
I think it’s good. Not perfect; it’s lacking content for my playstyle.
I can’t make a judgement call on it yet comparing it to other (full) expansions because we haven’t even received a single big content patch.
Well I’m caught in the middle cause i regretted paying for the last 3 and I said I would never do it again. But now people are saying this expac is much better so… I guess I’ll wait till I get level 60 and then decide.
Do that or wait for a sale yeah. There was one with 30 ‘free’ days recently. Maybe they’ll come up with something at the end of feb/ early march again.
Since Mop was hot garbage, DF is better yes.
But I also found SL to be better then MoP

In my opinion, It’s close.
Shadowlands had me more occupied with different contents like Renown etc.
Wich was fun untill it was all maxed.
(Get rid of Thorgast though lol)
For Dragonflight since I don’t care about cosmetics or mounts, I have no reason to farm Renown.
Dragonflight is a Raid and M+ simulator for me, requiring ALOT more time in M+ too gear up properly, leaving no time for alts.
I preffer Shadowlands, but I know I am a tiny tiny minority in this opinion 
So did they bring back actually running dungeons to gear for raids? Or can you still just get raid gear from world mobs and quests. I guess I mean the progression aspect is more focused. And also the professions, did they bring back gems and enchants? I can’t find a glyphs tab either. Are glyphs gone?
Bear in mind, I raid mythic and try to progress that.
My opinions are from a “higher” endgame PoV.
If you plan to do NM or even HC raid, it is way more flexible.
It never left.
Since the max vault reward now is from M20 instead 15 it requires a boatload off time to get there…
Season is half done and I am doing 18s since this week (and I play a bit much…)
Depends what raids you want to do, for NM yeah.
Elites and WQ can drop good items.
That never left either.
It’s popping, the current proffession system is good (and bad).
But again, requires M+ spamming to upgrade your items for free gear upgrades so you can raid more comfortably.
No new ones added, But they are still in the game.
EDIT:
In general, gear progression comes from more points off focus now.
Since you can Craft gear with focussed statts on it you can prioritise item drops better.
It is an update, but I wish they’d put less importance on M+ gearing to be able to compete in raiding (on Mythic difficulty).
I mean in the past you had many gems and enchants and they kinda pruned all down to nothing. And I don’t understand what any of this mythic m20 or anything means. I think I’ll just stick to wotlk, thanks.
People are expecting too much of games and go on crying when these expectations are not met. They expect to buy an expansion and be able to play the game on a sub until the next expansion gets released.

I am getting burned out on Dragonflight right now, too, but I have played it since release and spent 70 Euros + my sub on it. It is fine to quit a game at this point and cost-effective wise WoW has offered me a lot until now. And from that perspective: Yes, it’s worth it.
I think atm there are more gems then ever before…
You have single statt gems, dual statt gems and primary+statt gems off every combination you can possible think off.
That is okay aswell, I find wotlk to be extremely boring.
That proves opinions are different, your opinion about DF might be different then mine 
My perspective is 1 euro = 1hr off gametime.
I am well over 300 hours gametime for Game + 3 months gametime ( about 100 euro’s).
I call that, VERY worth it!
