Hello,
I remember back in WoD when I could upgrade my PC for “first” time, with i believe… 21 years old. I almost had the same PC since I did start playing WoW in 2007, so yeah; the upgrade felt amazing.
I remember suddently seeing 160fps on my screen, and even if I could not see it due to having a not very good monitor; the smoothness was there.
Years have passed, expansions did pass too; but I have the feeling that the game has been tweaked here and there for no good in graphic therms.
You see, I could upgrade my PC few years ago (I believe it was on 2017), and again felt a big difference from the old one; however, as the expansions came by, (we are talking since pre BfA to current), even revisiting old content that used to go 160+fps on older builds, now can’t pass the 70fps mark.
This is not only about FPSs though; few days ago I was trying to get some old achievements from questing here and there. I could not believe my eyes to see that even in old Darkshore, the game stuters and fps drop even with little addons (and well updated of course).
In the last expansion, Valdrakken had a massive FPS drop even when everybody was offline and it was “single player”. Nowadays, we have the same in Dornogal. I can’t believe the fact that this is happening; though I could understand that in old Dalaran in 2009 WotLK this could happen, it feels just lazy work in my eyes to see how a town with the same kind of vendors, and after all the same formula but in different place, have this kind of results.
What kind of optimisation is this? We aren’t talking about an unreal engine 4 game, we are talking about maybe more CPU demanding game in combat, but graphic wise, not very needy.
When it comes to the gameplay, combat is just unbearable. I understand that my PC is old right now, but again, the game should not stutter so much. In my case, If I have a frost mage in my m+ team, as MW monk, i can’t heal in melee range if the mage procs frozen orb + CDs because i get a 14s 1fps situation; to name an example.
When it comes to epic BGs, it’s the same. How does it come that a game that used to handle alot of spells with no issue, nowadays, it’s struggling alot even having x4 better machines/connections? I can’t just believe it.
When it comes to arenas, there aren’t many problems, because it’s small content, however, and thats not about optimisation hehe; demon warlocks are not fun to play against due to the massive pet bloat.
Do you guys have similar experiences? Thanks.
