Is Blizzard removing physical pre-paid game cards as a way to add balance to your Blizzard account?
Buying physical pre-paid cards is only way for me personally to add balance to my Blizzard account wich would mean I would be forced to quit WoW all together (Im one of many who does not have access to either a credit card or pay pal as if you are in debt in my country, you are not allowed to own a credit card or to use pay pal).
This is not a way for me to try and tell Blizzard that “If you are removing this way of paying for the game I will stop playing because Im mad at you for this”. Im actually forced to stop playing if pre-paid cards would go away.
I have played WoW since Vanilla and I love the game, so being forced to quit the game would be really sad for me.
I hope your right :). The reason Im asking is that I watched Preach latest video Drama Time video and I got the impression there that pre-paid cards were going away. My english isn’t the best so I might have missunderstood what he said and thats why I wanted to ask here
Just looked, they are available for £20,99 on Amazon but UK only. I guess the mass closure of all the Game stores in the UK hasn’t helped, and i do remember HMV having them on sale a few years back for £5 each to get rid of stock.
I havn’t said that someone is forcing me to quit the game, I said I would be forced to quit the game if they removed the only way I can pay for game time. If there would be no way for someone to pay for game time, yes then they would be forced to quit the game.
Forced as in “I really would like to continue to play this game but theres no way for me to pay for the game time”. I don’t see how this would be hard to understand.
Buying from amazon and paying extra for delivery instead of subscribing seems a little strange. Especially when a credit/debit card is needed in both cases.
I’m not aware of pre paid cards being taken away. So for as long as you are able to buy them elsewhere, you will be able to add them to your account. Blizzard have changed their gametime options and you can now only buy it in 60 day blocks on the site. In time I imagine this will catch up with third party retailers.
In Sweden they sell physical pre-paid gift cards with a set amount of euro on them, 20 euro, 50 euro and 100 euro. These pre-paid gift cards you use to re-fill your Blizzard account balance.
Really? that doesn’t seem right to me, the cards have a monetary value on them until they’re processed through the tills. In a situation where they are no longer being used for whatever reason an outside company would normally come and pick them up or you’d send them back in-store. You certainly couldn’t get away with selling them half price without some very questionable things going on.
If you don’t have a credit card or don’t want to use your credit card, you can get a debit card which you can top up with cash, and use it to pay for subscription.
I don’t know about your country, but where I live it is very easy to buy a debit card that’s not linked to an account. And since it is debit, you can have it at zero balance most of the time, so that no one would be able to steal anything even if they hacked your card number (because there is nothing to steal). Then only top up with the exact amount you want to use just before using it.
So if you want to pay 15€, add it to the card, then use it immediately. In this case the only risk you is that someone hacks your card number, and uses the card in the short time between you topping it up and using it. And the max the hacker can steal is the 15€.
Also there is no worry about forgetting to cancel your sub with a debit card. The sub will automatically expire when Blizzard tries to charge your card and it has zero balance.
