Since the foam sword doesn’t work on bosses, is there another way to get them low without killing them? Trying to get the last boss in DM East to 50% so I can get the rich thorium and use the exit behind the wall but even naked I one shot the boss.

Take some cannon fodder with you? Let them attack?
Ask a low level guildie for help?
Engineer low level dynamight?
lure him towards the ships cannons and fire at him with a cannon?

Kill Yourelf… and enter dungeon/raid with ressurection sickness (aka pay ghost to res you).

I think this could work fine in your case.
I use low level booms or gadgets when I need to ‘not kill’ a mob, can take some time but sometimes gets the job done.
“Soft Foam Sword”
toy item, bought somewhere in Dalaran(Northrend), you hit someone with it - and bring them to like 10% of health without killing.
Useful to do low-level quests you skipped, for achievement purposes.
Also, can strip all eq, die, resurrect with sickness, and try to attack with bare hands… may not be helpful though if your level difference is too high…

Party sync or just unarm yourself I guess. That or the soft foam sword, that works too.
The OP has stated the sword doesnt work for them .
Try low level grenades/dino.
get the " Whole-Body Shrinka" Toy this toy will shrink you and reduce your damage by a lot
I use it when farming achievements that require specific boss health numbers

I use this one as well 
- remove most of your equipment to lower the damage even more
