Is there any point hording old crafting materials?

like the title says, is there any point hording old crafting materials? especially cooking.

ore leather and cloth i will keep because they may be needed to craft transmogs i don’t know, but cooking, herbs, gems and enchanting?

in case it matters, i know all recepies from classic through to SL with the exception of 3 in SL. I know that since legion you need to craft things sometimes to learn new items, but that wouldn’t apply to cooking with me.

Probably not. Anything I have that AllTheThings says I don’t need, I put it on the Auction House.

Maaaaaaaaaybe at some point Blizzard will add a seasonal event or some vendor for old materials, like what happened with Tier3 stuff, which will reinvigorate their usefulness.
