As a druid 99% of the flight/running is in travelform. Druids can’t use their flightform in skyriding races and when you speak to the bronze timekeepers to start a race it will automatically swap you to the Renewed proto-drake. It is a very clunky mount and I’d prefer to use my own choice but can’t find anywhere to select this. I have been checking with the npcs by the rostrum in Valdrakken as I recall there used to be something like that before but maybe it was for the racing cups only.
Is it possible to choose your default skyriding mount without having to cancel flightform and mount up before every race?
What if you use any flying mount at the start?
Using any mount at the start works just fine. I always have to swap from the proto-drake to another mount before the 5 second countdown but I was wondering if there was a way to choose the default mount, making it mount up on the chosen one instead of the proto-drake from the beginning.
Probably not, they did the same thing in dragonflight.
In DF we were able to choose the drake for dragonriding races. This option got removed with the release of 11.0 and it pisses me off.
Another issue I have is that I use Steady Flight at all times on my druid, but starting a skyriding race automatically brings back skyriding so I have to wait 5 seconds to turn Steady Flight back on.
Again 1 step forward, 2 steps back with Blizz’s half-baked releases.
I wrote an addon to automatically replace the Renewed Proto-Drake with your last active flying mount at the beginning of a race:

Amazing! I will definitely use that. Thank you
Yes, druids CAN use their flight form in races, I do it all the time, when it swaps to the proto drake, just click on your flight form again and you can do it. Cheers!
You are correct. Hm, should I change my addon such that it treats druid flight form like your last used flying mount. So it will do the switching to flight form for you at the beginning of a race?
