Which goes even way beyond that. I’m not sure why you brought this up.
You sure you do not even visit Reddit?
Are the differences between male and female in the character creation biological or cultural?
I’ll let you figure this one out.
The very thing we’re talking about. The deconstruction of sexes and biology.
Well the thing is, you and multiple people in this thread have pointed out how no one got rid of sex or genders. That body icons replaced traditional symbols we have used for hundreds of years.
You’re also argueing that gender =/= sex and that you seem understandable that sex is male or female with very rare exceptions (these people still identify with their most dominant sex).
However, since there is no gender construct in the character creation screen, given that both male and female have access to the same clothing, attributes like piercings and tattoos to hairstyles short and long, there was no social culture present. The only difference between a male orc and a female orc is their biological features, which defines their sex. Not by your own logic, their gender.
What? You brought it up by saying “symbols have been used since 1750”, it just stood out cause they’ve been used for PLANTS. That’s why I responded. Unless you’re a sunflower. What do I know really.
And you lot are accusing other users of “changing the meanings of words”.
The character creation is gender. That’s the word you’re looking for.
So nothing is being targetted at kids, ok then. Kids are being taught a simplification of what we’ve learned as a society to get them going in life. It just so happened that we learned that gender dysphoria is a very real thing and with better tools we now know that sex isn’t just XX and XY chromosones.
Kids are also taught to use a computer, a relatively new invention. Is this “being targetted at kids” in the way you mean it? Of course not.
Really? This was the point you wanted a response to?
Hell, why are we even assuming tauren or male and female in the same sense that human beings in real life are? It’s mentioned nowhere on the character screen after all. Whose to say orcs reproduce in the same way humans do in real life?
Yeah because even plants, besides mammals and other species also have gender. Ding ding ding! Well done!
Look who’s talking.
That can’t be because there is not a single gender social construct in the character creation screen.
They were sexes.
I’ve asked you twice now to point me towards a gender construct present in the creator screen, and you could not.
One is useful, the other is deconstruction basic biology.
… there is lore about half Elves, half Orcs and half Draenei, who both have mated with humans in the past…
This is seriously the hill you want to die on?
We’re using the same sense of literal bovines rofl… Ever seen a bull in real life…?
I’m simply not gonna reply to the rest of the bigotted drivel, I’ve done so repeatedly in the thread and asking me to reply exclusively to all the drivel you say while not reading what I and others have said is just selfish. If you want to be taken seriously do the very least amount of effort that you’re telling others to do for you.
You’ve done nothing but repeat the same, pointless arguments.
Again.
SHOW ME A SIGN OF A GENDER CONSTRUCT IN THE CHARACTER CREATION SCREEN.
If you can’t do that, it’s obvious the differences between male and female are biological.
I would also like to point out their argument towards stating that the character creation screen is a social construct because “fantasy races aren’t real” and made up by a person.
Sooooo… fantasy races are not allowed to have social constructs of their own?
You don’t have to play a certain fantasy race if their social construct goes against your believes. Some people can seperate real life from fiction, but if you’re not capable to do that, then you’re not forced to play.
Maybe Blizzard should create a gender neutral race. Where the differences between male, or body types is… hmm well what would be the differences if everything is nonbinary? Is one just taller, or fatter than the other?
What do these people even want? Why do they even want to force this stuff into fantasy races of all things too lol.
Not really, but you are asking me to tell you why a corporation and game creators are doing what they do… I think you have to highly thoughts about me, I am not a game developer, I work in the health care system and do not plants ideas into a corporation solely with the purpose of annoying you.
If you really want to know, how about ask those who does now instead in rabble towards people who doesn’t know.
Then I suggest you read all 869 post once again, because I have seen quite a few and I have also given my own take on it, if you decide not to read them then it’s on you
And my argument will forever be: It’s just a game, it can’t hurt you
You might just be right, and that is the scary part.
Being offended by anything leads to cancel culture.
And Cancel Culture is nothing to sneeze at, that stuff is scary.
If I would have to name things that made me for who I am (as a character) it’s my racial skills, my starting level 1 stat points, the levels that I gain to improve my stats and get precious talents with. The gear that I loot the Proffesions that I train and the gold that I have.
With so manny more things to name.
But for some people it seems to be about how they feel about themselfs in real life.
It seems to be that you understand my arguments, have no argumentations left so you start making up these obtuse, disingenuous points instead.
Still nothing, no word on the social construct that is supposed to be rampart with through the character creation screen. Not a single argument to why this was gender constructed instead of just being based on the two sexes.
Just let it go if you don’t want to answer, or can’t answer.
Hah no, that’s why we’re at this whole debacle in the first place, about removing sex symbols.
