Is this game dead?

Just asking out of curiosity because there are not many players online and in the forums?

As many have already said: it’s dead since OG launch.

I guess.

My take is that it’s not as the Dragon Isles still lag like :poop: due to hamster overload.

Retail? yes.
Classic? no.

Thats too bad considering retail is much better than classic.

No, but people are working right now. Or sitting in the office and pretending to work…

I know people keep claiming Retail is dead but I’m just not seeing it myself. I am, however, on one of the biggest realms (Draenor) and I play in WM off. Every Time Rift I do is full of people. There are lots of listings for M+ and Raids.

I have no idea what player numbers are. That kind of info is no longer available.

It’s as dead/alive as ever. There is a playerbase, lot of it leaves, lot of it comes back, the pool of people is still there but it’s just this pool, it’s always been like this, even if sub numbers dropped and when they rose as well, new fish in the pool however, are very rare because the game doesn’t really have mainstream appeal nowadays.

About forum posts I don’t think that’s a good indicator of liveliness but I think really a factor playing here is that DF, while not being the mindblowingly innovative is not particurarily controversial either. Sure there is the discourse about ability number and healers but besides that it’s not as outrageous as Sl was or even BFA.

Either way about forums keep in mind that whatever you support or oppose, we are all minority of the playerbase.

Every summer we ask the same questions.

Wrong game forum my friend, WoW isn’t dead but it isn’t at its peak like Wrath ofc but it keeps a lot more players playing when compared to older expansion’s besides Classic and TBC .
Now Diablo 4 is dead yeah.

tons of people have burnout

It’s not dead, but it’s not nearly as big as it used to be.
You can still get lots of people to do stuff with. But they are all in the current content. Like, content from a previous patch is completely empty these days. There is a lot of crazy at the start but it drops dramatically.
Many servers have been merged together and they still lack population.

That is how the game has always been. Only the current end game is busy.

It wasn’t always like that, no. There were more players catching up or casually playing.
Currently the cavern which is current content is empty. No one runs the rares anymore.
How many months did people run rare in the timeless isle? Heck even Korthia was run for months before it became empty. It takes weeks now.

The rares are now on a weekly lockout. It is indeed hard to find people killing them on 12 hours before weekly reset. Pretty sure Korthia was daily.

The rares in the cavern are also not really rewarding anything either.

No it’s pretty alive, no issues finding groups even at 5 am.
