Stormbound — Is This the Future of Enhancement Shaman?
Blizzard has been hinting at future class reworks.
Enhancement Shaman — long beloved, long neglected — might finally be next.
What if the next rework didn’t just polish the spec —
but reworked it completely into the living storm it was always meant to be?
The Vision
Chain Reaction — weave the elements: Air, Fire, Earth, Water — building unstoppable elemental momentum.
The Living Totem — one powerful Totem carried on your back — swirling, shifting with each elemental flow.
Master the Rhythm — the more you balance the elements, the stronger your finishing strikes or healing surges become.
As you weave the elements together, you create a chain reaction of raw elemental power.
It’s up to you to choose whether to heal your allies or crush your enemies.
Gameplay Summary
Element
Reaction
Air
Speed, chain lightning bursts
Fire
High damage, burning AoE
Earth
Defense, slow auras, knockdowns
Water
Healing surges, slows, frost bursts
Build your Chain Reaction by weaving different elements.
No direct confirmation of a rework yet. However, during BlizzCon 2023 Morgan Day said:
“We’re looking at specs that have a lot of button bloat or rotational complexity without clear payoff. Some specs like Enhancement Shaman are ones we continue to monitor closely.”
Ian Hazzikostas said during the Dragonflight 10.2 Q&A:
“Some specs like Shadow, Ret, Arcane, and others we’ve addressed already. Others like Enhancement are ones where we’re still seeing how they land post-Hero Talent Trees.”
And Morgan Day again in the Icy Veins Interview, April 2025:
“With Hero Talents, we’ve smoothed out a lot of specs, but there are still some that structurally might need deeper changes in future patches. Enhancement is definitely a spec we get a lot of feedback about.”
So again, there’s no direct confirmation — but the spec is being actively monitored, and they’ve acknowledged issues with bloat, complexity, and a lack of clear payoff.
I suppose after these speeches they bring him a report where it is shown that 10 people play for this spec, 9 of whom are deranged 2k exp never played for anything else, keep playing only for the purpose of whining and hiding their inadequacy, so he spends another two years doing something else
