I’m trying any new mmorpg here and there to see if its better than WoW, but they aren’t just doing it for me. Fluidity and flow of animations, VFX, class designs and lore, the user friendly characters controls. All this is much much better than in any other game.
I just feel the character.
I’ve tried playing FF but it was awful in dull shiny plastic gray graphics and clunky-robotic animations. Characters aren’t alive they are all like beautiful mannequins made of plastic.
Black desert was high hope game, with uber awesome design and dynamic fights, but they are all too hyper realistic and all classes are human. I hate human in real world, why do I want to play human in RPG. Also interface wasn’t intuitive enough and it became very boring in terms of Lore very quick, cause I wasn’t properly introduced to it.
Allods online was awesome visually, but since company which developed it was sold to other company which didn’t care about anything except money (think it about like blizzards sold themselves to Activision) game become unplayable with microtransactions and ruined balance.
I tried others “new killer wow mmorpg” as well back in the days, but eventually got that they are just trying to be like wow and there is no other MMORPG better and so polished as WoW.
Might in some other day… I hope Riots will create new MMORPG where I could play as Yordle. They can pull it off.

I’m sorry but Eso is trash. They reached the state of the art with Skyrim and they butchered pretty much every thing in terms of classes and mechanics, so that’s a no from me.
I think it’s more that the market is so poor to the point where WoW is the best of a bad bunch.

I’m so sick of hearing how great FF is. I think it’s trash.
To answer your question, who knows. They stopped reporting sub figures so it could be well below others mmos now

For me WoW will always be the best. It has it’s flaws sure, but I have way too many years invested here.
If I want a change of pace I go play on my ps4.

Only took you a few months to change your mind about FF, what happened ?

After Vulperas were released, there is not really a competition which MMO is the best
Seriously tough, I have cancelled my sub many, many times and tried many other MMO’s, but I always come back. In BfA I have quit 3 times and yet here I am, enjoying my 6 month sub + mouse. I guess you can say WoW is the best MMO for me
I didn’t change my mind about ff14… it’s only flaws for me was they don’t put out content fast enough and leveling alt jobs is slow if you have already done the MSQ… I did everything (apart from pvp) they do say it is a very casual mmo.
I always go and play the story patches on ps4 and new raids when they come out and unsub inbetween.
Here in WoW even if I am not raiding or doing mythic+ I can still find a lot to get on with.
I am already playing final fantasy online… its way better than wow… for me ofc.
Don’t get me wrong, I like FF14.
Its just never going to replace WoW.

It was never the best, that was Eve Online.

Can you play FF on PC with people on console?
Still better than ESO at least gameplay wise. And FF has art style I cannot tolerate, so for me it beats that too. BDO has both eeeew-art style at too much grind for anyone with sanity.
ESO has it’s own problems, the difference is that it has a rabid aggressive fanbase, while WoW has apologists.
FF14 on the other hand, especially with the last expansion is miles ahead. They aren’t even in the same weight class.
Also, there are other MMOs that may have smaller playerbase, but in the end are better video games, just don’t cater to such wide audience as wow. (this is a general strategy of Blizzard lately, make the product appealing to as many people as possible).

Yes and you can transfer your character from EU to NA also from PS4 to PC.

So I guess FF has turned number 1 on the mmorpg market?
In this data,

It’s a Yes!
The only reason I returned here instead of staying at FFXIV is getting fed up with their rampant fanservice tbh.
Well, that and having to drag all my alts through the MSQ. Though as I had to learn, WoW has managed to become equally alt-unfriendly somehow.
I tried ESO as well, but the combat wasn’t mine. Action combat, but still trinity? Meh. It felt awkward. And researching builds was disillusioning.
Without population numbers, it’s not really possible to objectively rank them. Subjectively, I personally would rank FFXIV higher than WoW for normal people and ESO behind both.

I guess it depends, i came from FFXIV, and that game has turned into something amazing, although end game got a bit stale for me, after i had done most of the new Extreme trials and raids and gotten the glamours i wanted, there is only really one set of BiS gear for your class and that gear is obtained through tomestones running the same new content over and over again.
Turned to ESO, but the game just didn’t feel right, it was very clunky. But i played before it went F2P. It might have changed much since. And the positive is voiced characters and of course the Elder Scrolls Universe.
Played a bit of SWTOR and i enjoyed it for what it was, especially the stories, it’s a very heavy story driven game with basically all characters having a voice and dialogue options.
WoW has turned into the game i invest all my time into.
To me there is so much to do, even though some of it might just be re-used content with a different flavor. I exclusively run Mythic+ never really raided and i don’t feel left out at all when it comes to gearing up.
Meeting people in WoW is incredibly easy, for good and for worse.
And the universe is lovely, so many places to go.
Never really played BDO or other Korean MMO’s, nor have i played some of those very interesting looking chinese MMO’s that isn’t released in the west.
Well, you don’t need alts. One character can switch all classes. You also get a free race change token or Fantasia. Fantasia can also be bought on mogstation store for £7.00.
It’s fun in cyrodiil. World PvP…
I agree, now Xbox one players will be able to play FFXIV as well. So, the number would increase ten fold.
