Isn't spending valor stones etc upgrading adventure level gear a waste?

Because I’d have capped already if I didn’t and it makes capping again faster.

A lot of us have guild heroic / normal raids day of season start, and daytime commitments meaning no real time to gear up more. So using this time to maximise ilvl with resources that will not matter after a week or so of the season makes sense.

It’s very easy to be 590~ ilvl before season starts, and be capped on Valorstones because most of your items will be crafted and not cost Valorstones anyway.

Right so how does that still make any sense to spend any more resources now than you need to? Do exactly like I said, spend as much as you need to avoid capping, accumilate gear, upgrade as needed for the season start. Upgrading now just means you’re more likely to waste and have to farm more.

I’m on track to not need to do any HC dungeon farming, enter the season with good gear and also capped resources.

Because the only items I upgraded were ones I knew I’d have when S1 started. My weapon which is BIS stats, the 584 renown pieces which go to 606, and my trinkets. Everything else is crafted, which doesn’t cost Valorstones.

Do ppl think they are going to get 15 drops on day 1 when raid and M+ opens lol…

Not a waste because it makes your life a whole lot easier

People out here trying to fully optimize their gear like they’re mythic raiders, and they’re not.

Just upgrade your gear. Literally had almost 3 weeks of just questing, and it’s nice to be decently geared and smashing up the mobs in the zones.

The expansion released on the 27th of August and it’s now the 2nd of September, which is less than one week. In that less than 1 week my char is roughly 573 ilvl without having farmed heroics or spent on much upgrades, but can already pull effectively limitless numbers of open world mobs, including elites and just melt them down in seconds with cooldowns.

There is at this point no practical need with the real content locked away for another 9 days, for spending stones and optimising gear when you will continue to accumilate gear that may be better. Sit on the stones, walk into the season fresh without needing to farm more. Nothing to do with mythic optimisation, it’s time optimisation.

Depending on how much time you have on 11 September. If you are gonna play the whole day, you should go with around 1.7-1.8 (going with 2k means you will overcap while going for the second half of the spark anyway). Then you have LFR available from first hour, which also grants some valorstones, so the efficient way would be to leave some space for valorstones to come before any relevant items come in.

Then again, depends if you are also going to do the weeklies before, as those also grand valorstones, and also some items you have now from reputation, may be even better than what you can get from m0 (if they have your desired stats, it’s actually worth to upgrade them).

Now if you don’t have time to play in that day, and you have raid in the evening, then yes, upgrading some base items like: weapon, trinkets, and the rep items will make your life easier, as raids are usually pretty decent at between -15 and -18 ilvl from the drop (so 597 - 15 would be 582).

No it didn’t. EA existed. It was affectively 4 extra days. But either way stones get thrown at you so much there is no reason to hold onto them.

Not everyone is a prot warrior who can demolish for millions.

10 days then, which is just over a week, but the official release was the 27th. I started playing on the 27th, heroic dungeons and professions opened up on the 27th.

I’m not a Prot Warrior, I’m jumping between Arms/Fury and haven’t touched Prot. I’ve seen plenty of other classes doing the same, there isn’t an outlier here.

And the season isn’t out until the 10th of September.

Fury at the moment is completely nuts. I’ve leveled almost all DPS to max as of now, and warrior definitely #1 stupidity, but that’s besides the point.

If you’re adamant on rushing through the game, then maybe take a break and come back on the 10th. I ain’t sitting for 3 weeks with maxed out mats. I’m playing the game now.

These two things together is pretty wild.

Takes 4hours through dungeons to level chars. Nothing rushed about it. I’ve also taken my time to read all the quest texts for all quests.

Nothing has been rushed. Still got plenty to do though. Also, I’m not the one asking for the season to start sooner.

Think I’m just getting my 4 delve keys and logging off for the week when reset hits.

it is not a limited as far as i know it is just a suggestion.

Why shouldn’t you use your spark? If it’s known what your bis items will be, you can easily craft one of the bis items already.
No reason to sit on spark. Unless you want to craft it last minute to save some gold cost.

Because you can’t even get gilded crests to make it high ilvl until mythic week, and it’s often better to make your first craft a short term upgrade and shift towards BIS items later, especially if you are a caster because you can use a staff and get 2 item slots to 636 for the cost of 1.

It’s typically best to hold off on using finite resources until you need them.

Then you just recraft it later on but you already have a 606 item.
I don’t understand the problem. Recraft for less cost exist.
