They don’t deal with anything, alliance is dying, 30+min queues in horde, 1hit pvp etc.
EU and US forums are both full of similar topics, but the developers don’t even try to do anything. Or just communicate that they are on it.
Anyone with more than 2 brain cells knows what is problematic in the game, except these clowns we call developers.
Class balance is a thing, it was never perfect, but the fact that the alliance is literally a hardmode in both pvp and pve is a joke.
PvP with the 1hit meta also is a big joke, would there be a perfect solution? I don’t know, but they should at least try with some pvp damage rediction runes or more HP, cuz this +350 hp with the pvp set is nothing. They did nothing with the p3 launch, and they probably won’t, we can wait for p4 where there will be no improvement again.
Alliance in pve with the lack of mass manaregen, it’s unnecessary to go into this deeper, there are several topics about it.
I no longer believe that these clowns would solve anything, their approach is to reroll if you don’t like your class/faction because we won’t fix anything.
I know the trolls will start to spred their nonsense that everything is OK and who cares about PVP etc. One thing should not be forgotten, because for someone this game is just a RAIDLOG, it should still be respected that others want to play the game as they want.
I always try to be objective and if someone can rationally justify that I am wrong, I will accept it, but that usually does not happen. Feel free to read my comments, there are 1-2 people to whom I may not have answered properly, but they are not sensible commenters either, but trolls. Forexample the clow rouge who spams his/her nonsense under every paladin-themed topic and calls everyone stupid. Or whos arrogantly call all alliance players stupid, i’m sorry if I don’t always respond appropriately to such people.
These kind of reactions need to stop as if its players fault… Cant you understand that its not the same people whining? The ones that asked for guards are happy and the griefers are whining. The solution itself is logical and this goed with many things. The issue blizzard is suffering from is low standards and no self respect.
Now they may not be able to do anything with it, those who rerolled into the horde are unlikely to come back. It doesn’t help the situation that the alliance side currently has no relevant advantages. On the contrary, you have to face such obvious disadvantages like the mana problem, which shamanistic rage completely solves in a horde.
I know its a pve thing, but if they reroll for whatever reason, fewer people will stay on the alliance side.
Something should be done about the obvious faction balance problems very quickly.
I think the best way to do this is the games where the racials are really just cosmetic things and everyone can play with whatever they want without any disadvantages or advantages.
This was obviously not an issue in 2004, but it’s been 20 years since then and people want to use every little advantage, and if one faction offers as many advantages as the horde currently does, this is the final result.
And based on what logic does the management oppose PVP, which is an integral part of an MMORPG, not being a joke? or that both factions can be played equally and thereby maintain faction balance?
I would agree with you if it were small things.
Management has no tangible connection to the gameplay experience, they just optimize shareholder metrics. That is literally their job. They don’t actively want bad PvP, they’re just entirely unaware of how it works, and will only want changes that they think improve shareholder metrics. Meanwhile, everyone who knows what they are doing are pulling their hair out, like in every publicly traded company.
Yes, what you say is a fact. They cannot tune properly even an PVE environment, we expect class balance from them…If they do not lower the damage everyone does, and do not make runes less impactful, it will get worst. Effective health is not comparable with damage, at some point percentage based reduction will be needed, and this will create more balance issues, because classes who can heal or absorb damage will benefit a lot more from that, then healing reduction will be needed etc. The more they add, the more complicated it becomes. They had to work with light touch, not smashing. That is what happens when instead of polishing old issues and adding QoL to already proven product, trying to build something, which is not discovered yet what it is supposed to be…
Peace!
Its never good enough because they do the bare minimum then cry wolf we tried guys. We listened yo your very very easy requests but ignored the rest. You cant even justify what you just said. SOD developers lack integrity
The game is a miserable experience all around for Alliance in pvp servers.
0% win ratio in BGS, open world Horde supremacy, we are in serious need of balancing changes that boost Alliance relevancy, there is only one direction that we are headed as of now, massive imbalance like it happened in 2019.
Its SOD but still want to be classic in some ways, and if we take this into account, I think they really screwed up one thing, namely that they did not draw a limit to which level of expansion each class is upgraded.
I think that if they wanted to keep the “classic” feeling, WOTLK+ spells should not have been included, all classes should have been upgraded to about wotlk level, + the new roles of course. Because currently the winners are the classes whose rune spells scale unrealistically, and those who can almost completely bypass the vanilla class mechanics with the new skills.
Of course, this doesn’t really matter in hindsight, because it won’t change, but this is my opinion.
With hundreds of thousands of people playing the game it is objectively a success. But to answer your question it has everything to do with how you measure success. If the only measure of success were to be making every forum-dweller extremely happy with the game, and have nothing negative whatsoever to say about it, they’d just be setting themselves up for certain failure, wouldn’t they? That’s never going to happen.
The key to at least the perception of success in one’s own eyes is thus defining success in such a way that it is an achievable goal. The forum Andys will never be happy, they live to be miserable, so pleasing them is an unachievable goal. Goals such as certain player retention and whatever else metrics they might have are on the other hand very reasonable.
So how would you go about applying this in your own life? As previously mentioned you need goals you can actually achieve. Other than that you should be quite generous with complimenting yourself, no matter how small of a thing, if you’ve done something good it’s worth recognizing. On the flipside you must also be able to critique yourself and admit when doing something bad, but you should do this sparingly and in a factual, objective manner. There’s no point beating yourself up over every little thing imaginable.
Thank you for listening to my breakfast Ted talk, have a good day sir.
Selective tracking of only those metrics that make you look good. Shareholder metrics are very odd, and completely detached from the quality of the gameplay experience. No matter how bad the product is, if the number you track goes up, you pat yourself on the shoulder. There’s a reason wow went from WoD, into Legion, into BFA, and finally into Shadowlands before blizzard noticed that something wasn’t quite working. The shareholder metric improved, the game didn’t.
Success was achieved 15-20 years ago, they have been living on it ever since. WoW players tend to accept too many things, no matter how problematic it is, or it is almost unacceptable.
Good example is the STV event. What unplayable level of lag is there most of the time?
If its not wow, but any random online game… the players would tear it to pieces.
Or the overal pvp… its easier to kill a player than a lvl 52 random npc xDD…
I don’t know how to express this phenomenon, is it hype? or becoming a habit? or rather addiction? but it is certain that wow players accept without question a lot of things that would kill other games.
