I wasn’t convinced about WoW and whether it is the game for me, but out of curiosity I made a Demon Hunter and funnily enough everything I worried about wasn’t there. The combat is so much more fun, the first mission (or quest) is quite fun to do with all the bonus objectives to complete and just doing that is more enjoyable than playing my main hunter (I’m at MoP there).
So here’s my question: Will I miss out on important stuff if I just move over to the Legion class and campaign, or should I complete usual Legion on my main first?
It is not possible to play WoW through in a straight line from start to finish. It’s not that sort of game. You can cover Cataclysm and Mists later, if you want; you won’t have missed anything essential.
There are potential problems with people who jump too far ahead and get lost in higher-level play, but skipping 80 to 100 is no big deal.
Finding a class with gameplay that works for you IS a big deal. Maybe Hunter was never your thing. It’s a problem for new players, and we can’t help. We can tall you all about the facts of the class, but nothing about whether you’re going to enjoy it, and every class opens up a new way of seeing the game.
However, in Legion, each class also gets a campaign specific to their class. Hunters get one. Mages get one. Demon Hunters get one. This applies only in Legion. They were quite good. They won’t have the same kick now that artefacts have been de-powered, but still worth seeing. You will get the quests for this in your Class Hall, which is the first thing you are introduced to once you hit Dalaran.
Also, of course, DHs start at 98, and go through their own little zone before getting out into Legion, but once you land in Dalaran, you will be doing the same quests and dungeons as all the other classes,
