I hate doing PvE, and gaming old gear, it should be possible without it. And I don’t mind it bring hard, but without Legendaries(even the Legion legendaries) it is harder as in Legion.
I mean our classes are designed with legendar, and covenant Upgrades. We are missing dmg and survivability in those scenarios. I don’t think it is heavily overtuned, but a bit health reduce if the bosses would be helpful for destruction and Affliction. For demo just remove the enrage timer, don’t know why demo has one and Affliction and destruction don’t.
So I am having a stupid problem. I can’t get over the first phase, the first 40 second of the mage tower challenge. The meele guy just comes over to be and one shots me. I tried kiting him with curse of exhaustion, managed to get him to change phase one time, but he just gains speed and reaches me at some point. If not in the first phase, then in phase 2, when i need to also dps the Hands, and can’t focus him. I do around 300 dps single target. Maybe get better gear? Or do the rotation better?
Is only to less dps on him, if I ignor him to much I get killed by him. Need to improve my rotation, maybe a little burst in him in p2 and then in p3 full burst. To kill him as fast as possible.
i wouldn’t recommend farming old gear and wasting so much gold on sockets because i did with normal shadowlands pvp gear with medalion trinket and maledict so its still doable if you are patient enough and can survive for 15-19mins fight without getting hit by super super super slow adds cuz karam is dead by then also all u have to do is soak with pet and just keep moving & reddoting boss
burst him down in 2nd phase and in 3rd phase wait for cooldowns for darkglare/darksoul /racial if youre orc/troll and use drums too just to kill karam
We all know that blizzards scaling system bad is, the best example is mage tower. Where lower gear scales better than higher… they just had its do it with normal scanning to 60 and Covenants plus legendaries.
i agree lower gear is better but what im saying is people dont have to spend thousands of gold on buying 2 decade old sockets and spend time on farming old gear when its doable with any gear with this tactic & strats in the guide
It took me way less time than you and while you kinda struggled with Karam and Hands, for me it was piece of cake.
Unfortunately I didn’t videotape it, but I got through first phase by simply dotting karam and then kiting, not even using Phantom Singularity or Malefic Rupture, because I wanted to go be against Raest after with 50 stacks for Drain Life and 5 Shards. So basically stalling. BTW I played Absolute Corruption, not Siphon Life.
But of course, it’s important to evaluate whether you think you’re able to kill it and therefore sink gold for it. That’s for each individual to decide. I wasted like 40k G on my many attempts (this and Destro ones). I don’t regret it.
Also I already had (since Legion) unused Nethershards, so I bought gear for it. I had like 30k and spent it all (400 Nethershard a piece). Made huge difference. My DPS skyrocketed.
It really makes it easier when it takes you less time to deal with mechanics (like killing Hands).
But it’s doable without, you’re right.
Some tips: check your Mana Pearls (BFA currency) and Nethershards (Legion currency), you probably don’t need them anyway, so you can spend it for this.
Check your old legendaries (you can have two legion ones, I really like Prydaz with socket with enchant mark of hidden satyr) and BFA legendary cloak.
Those are all decent items, that you already might have.
On my bank, waiting there for nothing. But I will pick them up for the next tries. I managed to get to P3 and karam was 15-20%. And then I failed the nightmare spawn.
I guess have some of them left, but nethershards is 0.
You can use Banish on the Nightmare if you fail. But you gotta be fast. And I’m pretty sure after it runs out you can re banish (but it has to run out, as banishing banished target just removes the banish).
Also I recommend some Macros.
For example I used
/tar Karam
/cast Curse of Exhaustion
So when I press it, it targets Karam and slows him… it’s useful when I wanted to go back to him and damage him. Might lift you some issues of the hectic situation.
Also the Runes (spawning Nightmare) appear very close to that one specific location. I put my circle there as a safety measure if my felhunter failed and I kept my felhunter there.
Haste gear also helps a lot. When I first tried, I failed horribly, but when I returned to try it again, after Bualock made the video, I already geared for Haste (old gear) and I had 33% haste (I used the PvP trinket that gives Haste).
I remembered also 5, so I will try this gear. And some greens with haste mastery. A friend is tailoring, maybe I don’t need to spent tons of gold. With my pvp gear I had troubles in P2, I have the haste trinket from the pvp vendor.
I already spent a lot of good for the consumables…
Edit: in doing around 800-850 dps in those runs. I think it’s good, could be higher but for that I need to farm better gear. Those challenges are tuned for m+/mraids. Should be more around heroic gear.
im not here to argue for 3 minutes extra time all im saying not everyone is wow billionaire and played legion or earlier expansions and has all the gear and gold to spend 20k for each 3+ intellect socket so im saying its doable without any special gear if you did in 7 minutes i did in 15 but it works both ways yes if people have millions of extra gold to spend on sockets that they will never use again sure go ahead but lots of players dont have much gold and spending 20k on a socket is not worth it and not needed lol. i literally killed boss 6 times out of 6 attempts in one day with pvp medalion trinket & maledict that i didnt even use whole fight its pointless if you dont have old gear or 20k+ gold for each socket just do it with whatever gear you have tactic is so simple you just cant fail after you kill karam
We’re not in disagreement. I’m just saying it can have great effect and huge power increase.
It’s definately doable without and monetary (gold) / skill situation is up to the person trying and up to them to determine best way to approach it.
yeah they changed it and its 200-300 dmg lower than before but the catch is if boss reaches you he oneshots so gotta keep moving give this a look if you havent completed yet <3
