Ok so I played in legion and then BFA made me quit as I took a break to play Classic and TBC classic and recently I have come back to Shadowlands finishing all the quests and watching the cinematics. I must say despite them ruining a character whom of course I took very personally Sylvanas being my queen in the game and all since over a decade ago, there was a small and I mean very small saving grace in her character near the end.
Anyways there is plenty I could complain about her personal character progression that makes no sense but, I just wanna say like, wtf is the point of being an undead rn. Our entire existence was forgotten last few expansions and we have just been left in the sidelines. Our lore doesn’t matter anymore and we legit have no purpose. The fact we exist doesn’t even make sense anymore. If you ask me how I would’ve changed the writing of the last few expansions, why the hell was Sylvanas’s motive to free everyone from the cycle of life and death not revolved more around the Forsaken. Surely the souls she would want to free most of all from this torment is the very same souls who went through what she did, as well as being the race she brought together and created? Her going absolute mad and abandoning us made zero sense especially understanding her “motives” in the recent patches. They took a Queen who basically looked out for her people and basically made her a self centered psychopath.
I don’t think non undead players realize how alienated anyone who mains undead feels rn from the game’s lore, I rerolled to Alliance to play Shadowlands cause I was so annoyed. Anyways just a small rant for my Undead homies who I am certain all feel the same. I swear if this isn’t addressed next expansion Blizzard you have failed us as a race.
It’s pretty …y for sure yeah, but we’ve just got to live with it, like we’ve been living with WotF having been nerfed into oblivion since forever. Though the situation isn’t unique to the Forsaken, it was similar for the noems for ages too with them just being a joke living in Ironforge and a few other spots, the faction’s name even being “Gnomeregan Exiles” for the longest time… which is probably what they should call Forsaken/NE now tbh, “Undercity/Darnashus Refugees”.
We’ll probably get something in some expansion sometime, but for now we’ll just have to settle for being one of the coolest playable races Horde-side. Maybe the day they also finally give Worgen Gilneas back, as they might touch Lordaeron lore too then.
Night Elf home is destroyed too which sucks too. I would love to play content themed around the race, but instead there’s not much left. Playing classic reminds me of how you could help your race. These days new players just get sent to some random tutorial island and miss all this. Then they get to max level and go to Zereth Mortis… probably one of the zones in the game that feels the least like Warcraft.
If you ask me in my personal opinion the whole expansion feels the least warcraft like I’m so happy we are going back to Azeroth no more dimensional nonsense and reality twisting confusing nonsense.
But sadly your elven home is burned and that psychotic traitorous banshee didn’t suffer enough for the pain she has caused to Azeroth being controlled by the jailer is no excuse for her actions because they made it up on the fly to play Devil’s advocate to Sylvanas.
Meh, I just play the game because it’s fun. I play my race because it looks good in my Transmogs.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the Warcraft Lore. But I never let it dictate what I play or how I play the game… otherwise I’d be playing Alliance all the time.
I’m actually glad that we got rid of Sylvanas and that we’re getting Calia back. If they write it well then this could be really great for the forsaken.
Sadly i disagree with this because Lilian voss should be the new leader of the forsaken because Calia makes no sense sadly because she’s a grim reminder of Arthas and why they are forsaken in the first place.
Lilian has no leadership qualities whatsoever, though.
Calia is not a grim reminder at all. The largest part of the Forsaken are all lordaeronian and still see the menethil as the rightful rulers of the throne.
Calia was betrayed by her brother just as their father was. She wouldn’t receive any blame, especially now that she’s undead herself.
But she’s connected to the evil man surely that automatically condems her.
That may be so but if i looked at this logically i wouldn’t support anymore that family due to its name already being dirtied by Arthas and correctly assume that the rest of them would be prone to corruption like Arthas was.
So Calia could just as easily turn into the woman version of Arthas give it time.
Write what well? It’s already crap. Calia is a “fixed” undead. And it’s funny cause they assured us Calia won’t be the leader. Honestly at this point I’d be more pleased if they just leave us the hell alone and stop trying to correct our issues which, as far as I’m concerned, we don’t have. I’m pretty sure that the majority of players knew that Forsaken are quite insane and quite evil which is, in my opinion, more fun than becoming some apologetic douchebags, like Death Knights and Demon Hunters joining the “good guys” crowd. We don’t need a walking contradiction like Calia the Holy Undead.
The Forsaken aren’t insane nor evil. Most of their aesthetic is just a gameplay decision to make them visually different from humans which is essentially what they are anyway.
What you missed most of the Forsaken intro quests and other quests across expansions, like growing spiders on bear butts and having rats eat people alive, or was it dead? We are just dead humans, doing human things, but you know, being dead? Give me a break, the Forsaken were given an identity and I’d like to keep it.
the Forsaken still have an identity… In that in undeath they feel bitter and resentful towards anything that reminds them of Life. Such as the Light or nature magic. Anything that reminds them of how feeling alive still feels like.
If a Forsaken gets healed in the conventional means a living would. They would feel their own damage of their own death. Their flesh and skin being rotten.
Maggots crawling in their flesh. The forsaken identity is that of a bitter resentment of their fate and state. And anything reminding them of that has got to go.
Calia Menethil feels none of this bitterness or resentment towards life. She never suffered it for very long. And she still retain most of her human living emotions.
Hence why so many Forsaken fans dont feel her quite one of them…
Shes too liviving still. And still to human compared to the rest of them and what they suffered.
Only reason shes got any followers or loyalists at all amongst the Forsaken is her royal blood and heritage.
I didn’t miss anything. Those quests are for the Royal Apothecary Society, which is a group of Forsaken founded by Sylvanas Windrunner with the goal of creating a new plague.
You need to realize that there are more Forsaken than just the player character. Most of the kingdom of Lordaeron are normal citizens and most of them aren’t doing anything too weird.
