Hey, today I logged on a rogue I haven’t played in ages. Keybinds were a bit different from what I use now and it had “Character specific keybinds” checked. I unchecked it and ALL my keybinds got deleted for all my characters that use my general keybinds. I had to reset to default and change them to what I used before.
But since then I can’t compare items from my bag to what I’m wearing anymore. It used to work when I held shift but now it just does nothing.
I have tried disabling all addons but didn’t work either. I went through the keybinds menu but it seems nothing is different from what it used to be.
You can’t even bind something to shift itself and with every single addon disabled I don’t know what prevents the item comparison.
I hope someone out there can help me.
Hey there Aeleena!
I’m sorry to hear that you’re having troubles using Shift to compare items. Generally issues like this are caused by an Addon or interface setting that is interfering with the Shift to Compare function. Firstly, please can you open your in-game Interface Menu (Esc > Interface) and then in the bottom left of the menu, press the “Defaults” button, and apply these to “All Settings”.
If you still have the trouble with using Shift to compare your items, please can you work through this Guide to prevent any Addons you use from being loaded when you launch the game, and see if that makes any change for you.
I wish you the best of luck!
Thank you for your reply Emkasslo
Both resetting the interface options to default and fresh Cache/Interface/WTF folders didn’t do anything for me. No addons, fresh folders and resetting options changes nothing and I have have no idea what to do now.
Edit: It’s fixed now. I still don’t know what caused it but it seems like something in my keybinds got messed up. Thanks for the help!
I had the same issue right after resetting key bindings for an alt. What did the trick for me was:
- Disabling all addons (I suspect Auctionator or Pawn for issues)
- Resetting keybindings
- Setting keybindings to my setup
- Re-enabling all addons
That did it for me aswell!!! Aw man…I was about to delete this Alt xD
THANK YOU!!!
My issue was caused by Pawn.
I disabled Pawn and then reset the key-binds to default.
I then re-enabled Pawn and all was fine
I suspect at set-up for a new Alt, Pawn makes some key-bind changes that stops comparison.
If you find that pressing “P” opens Pawn and not the Spell-book, then it is very likely Pawn is your issue.
This fix returns the “P” key-bind to normal.
