Item ID & Spell ID

Hi Blizzard,

quick question, are spell id’s and item id’s ever the same - as in could a spell id also be an item id? or are they all from the same pool of numbers?

I don’t believe that Blizzard publically make it known how their game assets are set up. So you probably won’t get an official answer.

But I see no reason why they can’t be the same. In fact you can play about with wowheads database by manipulating the url, to see what spells and items share the same id number.

Well they might say that but as you point out, the data exists in the public domain.

I could loop item id and spell id values and look for any matches.

I could also ask here
