I seem to remember there being a potion or something that made it so treasures would show up on the mini map, like the rogue ability. I want to make a fun contest for my guildies where they go around trying to find the most treasure, but I can’t for the life of me find the item! Or am I just remembering wrong?
I think you’re after Find Treasure.
The original was a Dwarven racial that highlighted chests/quest objectives on the minimap, but that was removed in the Cataclysm pre-patch.
It was added back into the game as an Outlaw Rogue ‘‘ability’’ at some point in Legion and that is where it presently remains. I say ‘‘ability’’ because its not actually listed in the spellbook, but is rather a tracking option, much like how you would track pets or mailboxes. You can find it by speccing Outlaw and then opening the drop down menu from the magnifying glass icon on the rim of your minimap.
I’m afraid I can’t find any reference to a potion, it seems like it was race locked, and is now class locked.
Get the handynotes addon. It can list various treasures on the minimap. Myself I use the tools of trade plugin to show lootable cauldron locations.
