Around that time last year I was busy playing Cata Classic and almost didn’t touch retail. The Shadowlands wound was far too fresh in my mind, and Cata Classic appeared to be moving forward well. With the announcement of MOP Classic (which almost seemed certain anyway) I had the necessary inspiration to play and was fully committed to play.
This year I find myself mostly playing Legion Remix and barely touching Pandaria Classic. I finished the 5.1 Alliance and Horde questline, got the mounts, got “What a Long, Strange Trip It’s Been” during Hallow’s End and … that’s it… I stopped playing.
Blizzard, I don’t like the current mood.
I don’t like the recent leak - that MOP Classic is ending soon with era realms or transfer to retail. Neither of these options are appealing to me. In fact, I think this is the main reason I stopped playing.
But most importantly - the community needs answers.
Players complain that the realm population is dwindling - perhaps, Blizzard would think, it’s the perfect time to pull the plug of Classic. But the reason people (myself included) have stopped playing is that they don’t see that Blizzard are committed to the Classic version of the game.
IF Blizzard are committed - I assure you - I’ll play. Other people would play. Warlords of Draenor is my favorite expansion story-wise, atmosphere wise, music wise - yes, I was not a fan of the original long gaps of no content, but when the content was available, I enjoyed it. I enjoyed WOD in general, I enjoyed Legion. I enjoy Legion Remix. I will play WOD Classic and Legion Classic.
But I don’t see commitment.
There are a lot of questions Blizzard needs to answer about WoW Classic. I see that the devs are clearly excited about retail. I get it. Housing will be cool, it will bring a lot of roleplayers back to retail. Remix is cool. Midnight is shaping out to be cool as well with the upcoming Silvermoon revamp.
I don’t see Blizzard being even 10% committed about Classic. There are a whole lot a questions we need answered. I’m personally a fan of WOD and hope for WOD Classic, but this is NOT the only version Blizzard is silent about. We, the Classic players in general, are in the same bucket of suck. Anniversary players want to learn when they’ll get Burning Crusade. They want to learn whether they’ll get WOTLK after that. And, of course, Vanilla players expect to know more about Classic Plus. Will it happen - or it won’t? Even those of us (like me) who hate private servers and avoid them like plague know that Classic has a turtle problem.
Come on. The Classic community needs answers - and we need them very soon, so we should know whether it’s worth to commit our times and efforts in this version(s) of the game. We’re way past the point when silence is the appropriate way for Blizzard to behave.
