"it's an MMORPG, gear progression SHOULD matter!"

Name one thing more painful than trying to discuss PvP on the General Discussion forums.

Very small amount of players takes PvP seriously in this game, tbh. Its fun content.

There used to be many more. But PvP has been consistently made worse every single expansion since 2014.
Of course, our ranks have depleted, but it wasn’t always like that. I’m sure we all vividly remember the glorious days of Hansol duel series, back when Fire Mages still needed to make use of Shatter to create Pyroblasts, instead of spamming guaranteed crit instant casts 24/7 like apes.

it seems so, but actually not. MMORPG is not a good spot a long time. There is a lot PvP oriented players playing another games. No 1 wants to prepare their chars, grind farm, min/max and play in outdated type of PvP. Players makes PvP fun, do content and other stuff, when there is none of them, no matter what system there will be - it will be unfun.

You’re incorrect, systems very much matter.
A system that forces players who only enjoys PvP to waste time doing other forms of content will most definitely drive players away.
A system that grants PvE players better gear than PvP players will also drive them away.
A system that allows random RNG procs to take down half of your health at random will most definitely drive them away.

You know, it’s not that hard to have decent PvP in WoW.
I could do it in a single day of being a Blizzard employee:

  • either bring back resilience, WoD gear scaling, or Legion templates
  • disable trinkets & legendaries when entering PvP
  • bring class design back to a pre-Legion state and tweak from there
  • bring back the old 0,5% gladiator system, and elite weapon skins (why have they stopped making those?!)
  • delete Demon Hunters

There. PvP fixed.

Everyone who interested in PvP leave MMORPG a long time ago, coz nowdays MOBA and FPS in a good spot. There was a good try in Legion to be slighty closer to what nowdays interested to new generation of players, but the old playerbase destroy it by loud whine all 2 years. They want to dominate by gear, new players don’t want to min/max and grind or think about gear.

It’s not PvP enthusiasts who left MMORPGs for MOBAs, it’s specifically the 5 button, instant gratification crowd of casual gamers.
I’m fine with not having them around.

More like "I want to oneshot players, I hate pvpstat or legion templates cus I can’t oneshot anyone and I lose in 1v1 scenario*

I was playing in PvP a long time, but in MMORPG its just outdated, unfun and garbage. Even if i came back in 2012-2014 systems i won’t playing in it. I’m even thinking about to come back in MOBA and FPS from where i come into MMORPG, coz nowdays its like 2-nd job.

PVP MORONS kept cyring about pvp

Bahahahaha.

pvp back in the day wasn’t just a “mini game” as it is now. everybody did at least some bgs here and there, so many people had a pvp set etc. devs used to keep pvp in mind when they were tuning classes too.

i don’t understand blizzard’s stance on pvp atm. why are they treating pvp players so horribly? why do they want to kill this part of the game? it’s so baffling to me.

i just wish the players that compete in the awc took a stance and say they won’t compete anymore if this crap continues.

It’s especially baffling because PvP-player are, similar to roleplayers, a very easy to please crowd. I mean we’ve played Arathi Basin, Warsong and Eye of the Storm for the past 12 years and still we go in and have fun with them. (Okay admittedly Arathi and Warsong finally got a visual update not so long ago, but my point stands.)

We don’t need complicated boss mechanics. We don’t need long raid instances. We don’t need long roleplaying sections and voice acting from NPCs. Just give us a BG, a new or reworked arena, a good gearing system (simply copy MoP/WoD and you’re good to go), try to balance it here and there, though we all know we will never have perfectly balanced classes, and yeah you’re done.

You have a bunch of players who will be happy, and as soon as they geared up, maybe pushed the rating a bit they will simply switch over to their next character. I mean…I’ve played like 7 different classes in WoD. Nowadays I barely touch anything else than my rogue and paladin, because it’s too time consuming getting the other alts up to speed.

this thread…
i dont know where to begin.

Pvp got replaced by m+ competition, when i first spoke about it during legion with my ingame friends that this would happen they could not believe me but now you see the truth.

Like u i mean come on

and Blizzard will just throw out the announcement “no one seems to do PvP anymore, so we’re taking all development time away from it” when in reality, the reason why PvP is on it’s last legs is due to their bad design philosophy for PvP.

A big portion of the general forums are very casual and roleplayers.
I even had a guy reply to me that PvP should be disabled in Shadowlands because there’s temporary peace between the horde and the alliance at the moment.
