I’m trying to understand why this is ok to have on the forums, but when I created a thread yesterday it was flagged and taken down for “trolling”, allegedly because it wasn’t related to the game (same as this). There is even a Community Manager that commented here.

Does anyone have any insight on this please?

Because this thread was created with the intention of being a fun relaxing thing people can comment on. Same with most other offtopic threads. Your thread however had an agenda which is what people didn’t like. Clear difference in offtopic.

Can you please point out to me which rule I broke in the CoC? I have searched and didn’t find anything.

The thread I created was constructive and respectful. Ironically, it was my thread that was removed but not the rude and CoC-breaking comments that where made.

Just because you didn’t like the thread, doesn’t mean it broke the CoC.

Spamming or Trolling

Specifically:

Creating threads for the sole purpose of causing unrest on the forums

That section.

Right now you’re also breaking this rule:

Causing disturbances in forum threads, such as picking fights, making off topic posts that ruin the thread, insulting other posters

As well as:

Creating posts or threads to discuss disciplinary actions taken against a player

I saw that thread, I posted in it.
I’ll say that it was a well written thread but preaching about Veganism is blatantly going to cause unrest in the forum. You should know that, I am sure you do know that.

This thread is not here to create unrest.

My purpose was not to create unrest, but to try and spread awareness and educate people regarding the horrors of the animal industry.

How is it my fault that people got offended by that?

It’s irrelevant what your purpose was, all that matters is how it was perceived.
But your purpose was to preach. Which I’d say is unrest. You can say it was to educate if you want, but I perceived it as preaching.
I group Veganism in with political topics such as Religion and Sexuality. You have to know you’d cause an argument on the forum, everyone knows Vegans spreading their Veganism to others is annoying.

It should be obvious. But you need to understand that when you say things such as “the horrors of the animal industry” people who eat meat aren’t just going to be like yup, sounds great to me, I am part of this horrible industry. They’re going to challenge you. Which turns into arguments. Which creates unrest.

If you can’t see the distinction between a thread celebrating the weekend being here, and a thread preaching about veganism then I don’t really know what to tell you.
I think you know there’s a big difference but you’re refusing to acknowledge it because then you have to accept accountability and that your thread being shut down was correct.

On topic; hosting a D&D oneshot tonight… well, part 2 of the oneshot we started last week.

I suspect there will be a part 3, but that’s up to my players. Technically they could try to brute force the scenario and all die - or they could spend an hour (again) talking to random NPC townsfolk I have to make up on the fly before actually going in the direction the questgiver told them to go in

Either way, it’s still terrifying because it’s the first time I’ve DM’d any game since… 1999, probably. And that was Heroquest.
