Cataclysm Classic - Questing 4 - Progression/End Game 6 = 5 (Hopefully will rise a bit more when I’ll start doing raids and such )
So yea! For me Cataclysm leveling experience was very bad. With also the old world “destroyed” , etc.
Positive notes are skills and talents redone/reworked/etc.
I also don’t like the Dungeons design. Wotlk still the best when it comes to Dungeons ( and not only ).
Berny custom rating for all expacs; including the non-classical. From 1 to 10:
Vanilla: 9
TBC: 7
Wotlk: -1
Cata: 1
MOP: 5
WOD: 2
Legion: 6
BFA: 1
SL: 1
DF: never played mon
Vanilla Classic: Questing 9 / Dungeons 5 but as dungeons mean little to me, overall 8
TBC Classic: Questing 8 / Dungeons 4 but as dungeons mean little to me, overall 7
Wrath Classic: Questing 7 / Dungeons ? Overall 6
Cata Classic: Questing 3 (one for each new zone) / Dungeons ? Overall 1
Wrath had the worst questing of any expansion. Long and grindy with countless stupid vehicle quests, 0/10. Second worst questing was vanilla. Not enough quests and lots of pointless travelling. At least there weren’t any vehicle quests. TBC was better than vanilla. While it was a long slog there were at the very least enough quests to do. Cata in my opinion has had the best questing experience of them all. Quick and painless.
Can’t say much about the Cata end game yet, because I haven’t tried it. But it’s only gotten better with each expansion in my opinion.
Seems Retail is the game for you then, if you say about Vanilla that it had the worst questing after Wrath.
…or just that quests aren’t for you.
Exactly my point. Actually you don’t even want quests. All you want is a room full of mobs and 1 npc which will give you 1 quest : Kill 100 mobs in this room then come back to me and i’ll give you another of the same quest…until you max level.
Hence, Retail is the version you actually want to play. No! After Wotlk, statistically speaking and everything, the game got worst and worst ( except Legion ).
I tried DF and retail questing is better than vanilla, yes.
Questing is not why I play the game, that’s correct.
I found the gameplay in retail to be quite fun. Unlike some of you I don’t have any particular attachment to any expansion. I played vanilla back in the day, quit when TBC came out and didn’t think about the game until classic. It’s all new to me and I enjoy it for what it is.
I can only assume you are referring to the subscription numbers. Fewer people doing a certain thing is no measure of its quality. Liver is one of the most nutritious things you can eat, but people it it far less today than our ancestors did. It’s not that liver got less nutritious or even that it tastes different, people just don’t eat it as much.
Vanilla Classic 0, skipped it completle, didnt wanted to repeat that outdated mess.
TBC Classic - Questing 5 - Progression/End Game 6. PVP 6.
Wotlk Classic - Questing 7 - Progression/End Game 6. PVP 8+.
Worst part about classic was toxic comunity with GS/minmaxing/logs meta, i expected to get way more fun from classic with my friends, but all of them left in p1-p2 in “BEST XpAnSiOn Eva: WOTLK”
